Japan will provide foreigners with 10000 free flights next year in an attempt to start tourism.

The country's tourism companies announced plans to fight the tsunami and nuclear disaster, which has led to a decrease in the number of tourists since March.

In three months, due to the disaster, the number of foreign tourists visiting Japan plummeted by more than 50%.

The sharp downward trend began to fall back in summer.

In June and July, the number of tourists dropped by 36%, from 32% a year ago to August, because the country had visited the domestic tourism market.

Japan's Yomiuri Shimbun said that during this trip, travel agencies will ask prospective travelers to provide online applications, hoping that successful applicants will write positive reports on their experiences in Japan and post them online.

The newspaper said that the tourism authorities hope that the positive reports of tourists' experiences in Japan will help alleviate the concerns of the international community about visiting Japan.

The procedure will need to include the accommodation expenses of other passengers, which is expected to start in April and be approved by the government budget.

The government also said that Japan is safe, except for factories in the direct area, where disabled workers are still trying to turn off equipment in the cold.
