Employment Status of Tourism Management Major

The employment situation of students majoring in tourism management is not optimistic.

In recent years, most graduates majoring in tourism management and hotel management have gone to other fields for employment. The top managers of tourism enterprises, especially innovative talents, mostly come from other majors, such as Ctrip, Qunar, Mawei, Qitian and Tujia. Most founders have backgrounds in computer science or business. Even online travel agencies that once absorbed a large number of college graduates tended to major in Internet, while the graduates of traditional tourism management were limited.

In the direct employment of BOSS, the positions related to tourism management are mostly tourism consultants, tourism e-commerce customer service, and college education is enough. There are only a limited number of professional positions such as tourism planner, route planner and traffic planner who have clear requirements for academic qualifications and majors, and generally require 1-3 years of experience, which is not friendly to fresh graduates, but overall, the recruitment demand is not in the envisaged semi-stagnant state.

Judging from the specialty setting of colleges and universities, many schools have gradually lost their enthusiasm for tourism management.
