Scenic Spot Introduction

Kaiyuan Temple is an important cultural relic on the southeast coast of China and the largest Buddhist temple in Fujian Province.

The collection contains cultural relics from the prosperous Tang Dynasty to the Republic of China. There are 32 large and small Buddha statues, Bodhisattvas, Arhats, heavenly kings, and generals. Jade, bronze, porcelain and wood from all generations.

The great calligrapher Zhang Ruitu of the Ming Dynasty and the modern eminent monk Hongyi also collected calligraphy and wooden couplets here.

Currently, only three temples in China retain ordination altars: Tanjie Temple (also known as Jietai Temple) in Beijing, Zhaoqing Temple in Zhejiang, and Kaiyuan Temple in Quanzhou.
