Forcing mainland tourists to shop, Hong Kong tour guide Azhen was permanently suspended.

Hong Kong tour guide Jane forced mainland tourists to shop, causing concern from all walks of life. The Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong has now ruled to revoke her tour guide license. As for the Jinkai International Travel Agency that hired her, she was fined more than 40,000 yuan.

When Hong Kong tour guide Azhen received a mainland tour group in March, she complained that the tourists did not shop much and threatened that if they did not shop, they would have no food or hotel accommodation. A tourist filmed the scene and posted it online, causing an uproar. Jane was also revealed to have been complained about on more than one occasion for forcing tourists to shop.

After a meeting and discussion, the Hong Kong Travel Industry Council made the decision to revoke Jane’s tour guide license, but she can appeal within fourteen days. Even if the appeal is unsuccessful, Bali Travel Guide can reapply for a license in the future. The Jinkai International Travel Agency that employed her was fined HK$47,500.

The Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong also dealt with another tour guide involved in forced shopping, but the tour guide was only fined for 3 months.

After the ruling was announced, the Hong Kong Tourism Commission stated that it reflected the determination of the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong to crack down on illegal activities by travel agencies and tour guides.

Jian, the protagonist whose tour guide license has been revoked, said that she will explain whether to appeal next Monday.

Kinchem International Travel Agency stated that it has not yet received notice from the Tourism Industry Council, so it has not yet decided whether to appeal.
