Main routes in Qinghai-Tibet region
The main routes in the Qinghai-Tibet region are mainly composed of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway and several highways.
Railway: Qinghai-Tibet Railway, with a total length of 1,956 kilometers, 96 kilometers have an altitude of more than 4, meters, of which 55 kilometers pass through the plateau permafrost zone. Its highest point is located at the pass of Tanggula Mountain, which is 572 meters above sea level and covered with snow all the year round. It is known as "the closest railway to the sky" and "the highest railway in the world".
Highway:
(1) China-Nepal Highway (Lhasa-Kathmandu)
From Lhasa, it passes through Shigatse, Dingri, Nyalam, Zhangmu, Friendship Bridge and Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. The China-Nepal Highway is 943 kilometers long and 829 kilometers in Tibet. After it was completed and opened to traffic in 1965, it is the only open international highway leading to Southeast Asia in Tibet.
(2) Sichuan-Tibet Highway (Lhasa-Chengdu)
The southern line runs from Chengdu, Ya 'an, Kangding, East Elo and Batang in Sichuan, Mangkang, Zuogong, Bangda, Basu, Bomi, Linzhi, Bayi, Gongbujiangda, Mozhugongka and Dazi in Tibet, with a total length of 2,146 kilometers. There are many famous dangerous sections in the southern line.
The northern line from Chengdu to East Elo coincides with the southern line, and then separates East Elo from the southern line, goes north, passes through Ganning, Ganzi, Dege, Tibet Jiangda, Qamdo, reaches Bangda and coincides with the southern line, and reaches Lhasa, with a total length of 2,412 kilometers.
(3) Qinghai-Tibet Highway (Lhasa-Xining)
Xining, Daotang River, Chaka, Golmud, Wudaoliang, Tuotuo River, Yanshiping, Tanggula Pass, Amdo, Naqu, Dangxiong, Yangbajing and Lhasa. The Qinghai-Tibet Highway is 528 kilometers in Tibet, and the section from Golmud to Lhasa in Qinghai is 114 kilometers under the custody of Tibet.
(4) Xinzang Highway (Lhasa-Yecheng)
Xinzang Highway starts from Yecheng County in Kashi region of southwest Xinjiang in the north, passes through Pishan County, Hotan County and Ritu County in Ali region of Tibet, enters Gaer County to shiquanhe town, the capital of Ali region, and then passes through Pulan County bordering India and Nepal in the south, and then passes through Zhongba County, Saga County and Xigaze County in the east.
(5) Yunnan-Tibet Highway (Xiaguan-Mangkang)
Yunnan-Tibet Highway (National Highway 214) starts from Jinghong in the west of Yunnan in the south, crosses the virgin forest in Hengduan Mountain, crosses the Jinsha River, crosses Baimang Snow Mountain and Hongla Mountain at an altitude of more than 4,3 meters, and passes through Mangkang, Zuogong, Qamdo and Leiwuqi in Tibet to Duopuma in the Qinghai-Tibet border, and reaches Lanzhou, Gansu, Xizang Autonomous Region.
