The Three Gorges Waterfall, formerly known as Ginkgoshu Waterfall, is located in the Xiaofeng tourist area in Yichang and is an AAAAA-level tourist attraction. The third largest waterfall known as one of the "Top Ten Famous Waterfalls in China" is a natural geological museum that displays multiple geological ages such as the Sinian, Ordovician, and Cambrian periods. It is also one of the few in the world that combines canyons, caves, It is a national geological park integrating landscape and fossil culture.
On February 16, 2017, the Three Gorges Waterfall Scenic Area passed the national 5A scenic spot landscape quality review.
In October 2019, the Hubei Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism decided to give Yichang Three Gorges Waterfall Scenic Area a notice of criticism and an order for rectification within a three-month period.
On April 22, 2021, Yiling District fully supported the Three Gorges Falls in establishing a national 5A-level scenic spot.
On July 6, 2022, the Three Gorges Waterfall Scenic Area in Yichang City, Hubei Province was approved by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China and became a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction.
Characteristics of the Three Gorges Waterfall
The Three Gorges Waterfall is the Ginkgoshu Waterfall. It is a tourist attraction famous for its flying spring at the mouth of the Xiling Gorge of the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River. It is 29 kilometers away from the central city of Yichang and is located in Yichang Taishan Temple in Xiaofeng Scenic Area.
The Three Gorges Waterfall stream is 5 kilometers long, with more than 30 waterfalls scattered along the way. Going upstream, waterfalls of different shapes such as Hukou Waterfall, Line Waterfall, Pearl Waterfall, Ya Waterfall, Lianlian Waterfall, and Wufan Waterfall follow one after another. The main waterfall is about tens of meters wide. The clear springs flow down from the steep cliff more than 100 meters high. It is “the fourth in China and the first in Hubei”.
The plant coverage rate in the canyon reaches more than 90%, the air is fresh, and the canyon stretches for 10 kilometers. Baiguoshu Waterfall is famous for its high waterfall, beautiful scenery, dangerous mountains and clear water. The developed landscapes include more than 20 natural landscapes such as Goddess Waterfall, Ancient Dragon Pond, Fairy Pond, Taishan Giant Buddha, and Millennium Fish Fossils. The newly expanded Taishan Giant Buddha faces south and is 70 meters tall and 40 meters wide. It has a lifelike image and magnificent momentum.
