What if the plane lands at another airport because of the weather?

Legal analysis: after the flight takes off, if the flight is alternate or cancelled due to force majeure such as weather, the airline will make up the flight, sign or transfer to other means of transportation to help passengers complete the follow-up trip. If the passenger requests to stop traveling or other factors cannot make up the shift or sign the transfer, the unused part will generally be returned to the passenger at the freight rate. In this case, there is no mandatory compensation requirement in laws and regulations.

Legal basis: Article 23 of China Civil Aviation Rules for International Passenger Baggage Transportation states that if the flight is cancelled, advanced, delayed, the voyage is changed or the carrier cannot provide the original seat, if the passenger requests a refund, the originating station shall refund all the tickets; if it stops, it shall refund all the tickets of the unused flight segment without charging a refund fee.

Article 58 of the Rules of China Civil Aviation for International Passenger Baggage Transportation, if the flight is delayed or cancelled at the place of origin due to weather, emergencies, air traffic control, safety inspection and other non-carrier reasons, the carrier shall assist the passenger in arranging meals and accommodation, and the expenses may be borne by the passenger.
