What should we pay attention to in thunderstorm weather at school?

Thunderstorm is a bad weather phenomenon caused by extremely unstable air. It often carries strong winds, heavy rains, lightning, lightning strikes, and even hail or tornadoes, so it can often cause disasters. So what are the precautions in thunderstorm weather?

1. Don't take shelter from the rain on the roof or under the tree.

In case of lightning weather or rainy days, don't continue to play at the top of buildings such as the roof, and don't enter isolated shacks, sentry boxes, trees and other places to shelter from the rain. If necessary, you must keep a distance of 3 meters from your torso, squat down and put your legs together.

2. Don't stay on the water and the water.

Swimming in rivers, lakes and beaches or washing clothes, fishing and playing by the river in lightning weather are very dangerous.

3. Don't walk too fast

It is best not to run in thunderstorm weather, let alone drive a motorcycle or ride a bike. It is easy to be struck by lightning when moving quickly in a thunderstorm.

Stay away from metal objects.

When walking in the rain, try not to hold an iron umbrella. When sheltering from the rain, observe whether there are exposed metal objects or electric equipment such as water pipes and gas pipes around. It is not advisable to stay near iron fences, metal clotheslines, overhead metal bodies and railway tracks.

5. You can't play with your mobile phone.

You can't play mobile phones in thunderstorm weather. Try not to call or answer the phone, and avoid the landline at home, because lightning rods can only protect buildings, but they can't do anything about the thunder waves invading along overhead wires and telephone lines.

6. Pay attention to wearing shoes in thunderstorm weather

Walking barefoot or sheltering from the rain in thunderstorm weather will increase the possibility of being struck by lightning. Playful children should put on shoes immediately, or put insulators such as plastic on the soles of their feet.

7. Don't take a bath.

It is not advisable to take a bath when thunder and lightning strike, because the water pipe is grounded by lightning protection. Residents living in high-rise buildings should pay attention to closing doors and windows to prevent lightning from hitting indoors directly or preventing the invasion of side flash and ball lightning. Tell children not to stick their heads or hands out of the door and not to touch the metal frame of the window with their hands.
