What is hidden under the stone: an interpretation of picture books

Today is the fourth day of bamboo education summer school. I began to guide children to accept the ideas conveyed by western picture books and plant mysterious spiritual power in their hearts.

Xiao Tong, a girl who is about to enter the sixth grade at the beginning of school, asked her to choose a picture book to read after completing other learning tasks. She chose the book above. What is hidden under the stone? Good choice!

The story is mainly about a girl who found a big stone and was curious about what was under it. She tried to push it for a long time but didn't push it away. Sitting on the side, she began to imagine that she didn't know what was under the stone, but she just thought it must be a good thing. It may be a sticky monster, a strange dwarf or a giant with yellow teeth, a volcano, a forest or an ocean, or even another world ... at this time, she is too curious to push it away. The little girl was not disappointed. She chatted with the sea cockroach and made friends, and the story ended here.

This is a meaningful story. I started with the role, guided the students' feelings, and let Xiao Tong follow the plot to experience the beautiful quality of the little girl who is curious, never flinches when encountering difficulties, and goes all out to achieve her goal, even if the ending is not as expected.

I only said what she could understand. In fact, the story is far more than that. At least the story in my eyes is much deeper than it looks.

Perhaps, this is a story about dreams.

The little girl had a crazy dream. At first it was just out of curiosity. When her dream was blocked, she was unwilling to give up. She can't help but imagine how happy it is to realize her dream. Maybe everything will be different. She will walk into another world and start a completely different life! If the little girl got the divine power, she tried her best to realize this dream, and finally she did, but the reality was so disillusioned. Nothing is more absurd than that, except an ugly "sea cockroach". Instead of leaving with disgust, she gave up chasing her dreams and accepted the reality happily.

I guess if one day she sees a "strange stone" again, she may still do the same thing because she can accept all the results. For her, the moment she dreamed of realizing her dream and the process of fighting for it have made her extremely happy!

Maybe I am the little girl.
