Nanjing in Tang Poetry

The famous Tang poem about Nanjing is Liu Yuxi's Wuyi Lane. This is the Tang Dynasty (826). Liu Yuxi returned to Luoyang from the secretariat of Hezhou (now Shexian County, Anhui Province) and passed through Jinling (now Nanjing), where he wrote this group of poems praising historical sites.

There are some weeds blooming by the Suzaku Bridge, and there is only sunset at the corner of Wuyi Lane.

Swallows under the eaves of Wang Dao and Xie An have now flown into the homes of ordinary people.

Wuyi Lane is located in the south bank of Wende Bridge on Qinhuai River, Qinhuai District, Nanjing. It is located in the core of the Qinhuai scenic belt of Confucius Temple and is one of the oldest and most famous Gu Xiang in China.

Wuyi Lane was the mansion of two wealthy families in Xie Wang in Jin Dynasty. Children of both families like to wear black clothes to show their dignity, hence the name.
