Legends about bridges

The legend of storm bridge

When you enter Dong Township, you can often see a unique wind and rain bridge. Speaking of Yuqiao, there is a myth and legend.

In ancient times, there was no equal village. Dong lived on a hillside in a small hut with only a dozen families. There was a young man named Buka in a small hut. He married a wife named Pei Guan. The couple are so in love that they are almost inseparable. When they came back from work, one picked firewood, one carried grass, one carried a hoe and one carried Petunia, and they followed. This crown is very beautiful. When the couple crossed the bridge, the fish in the river jumped out of the water enviously to see them.

One morning, the river suddenly swelled. Mr. and Mrs. Buka were anxious to work in Xishan, and they didn't care much. They walked together to the small wooden bridge in front of the village. Just as they walked to the middle of the bridge, a strong wind suddenly blew, which made Buka unable to open his eyes. Pei Guan sighed and fell into the river. Buka opened his eyes and saw that his wife was gone. Knowing that he was blown into the river, he jumped into the water and plunged into it. However, I looked for it several times and found it. When the villagers found out, they all rushed to help him find it. They searched for a long time, but they still couldn't find Pei Guan. What the hell is going on here?

It turned out that there was a crab essence deep in the bend of the river, which rolled the crown into the hole at the bottom of the river. Suddenly, the crab essence turned into a beautiful teenager and wanted to be his wife, but he refused and slapped him. He immediately exposed the humiliating threat of winning the championship. Pei Guan cried and cursed, and the sound of crying and cursing spread from the bottom of the river to the ear of a flower dragon upstream.

At this time, it was stormy and the waves were rolling, and I saw a flower dragon in the waves, looking around with its head held high. The faucet looks to the left, the wave hits the left, the left side collapses, the faucet looks to the right, the wave rushes to the right, and the right bank cracks. The small wooden bridge has been washed away by the waves. Everyone is scared. But when the faucet came to the beach in Buka, it calmed down after several waves. Later, the flower dragon circled the water and rushed to the bottom of the river. Suddenly, the sound of the bottom of the river "Gu Gu Gong" kept coming, and the maelstrom came one after another. Then, a black smoke emerged from the water and rose into the air, turning into a dark cloud. The flower dragon rushed into the air after it, churning its body, pressing the dark cloud down, and finally pressing it to its true colors. It turned out to be a black crab as big as the top of the Drum Tower. The black crab ran away and climbed to a three-foot cliff. The dragon fell into the water and did a somersault. With a flick of its tail, it swept the crab into the water again. After these rounds, the crab was exhausted and waddled to the bamboo forest, trying to block the dragon with bamboo. However, the dragon jumped up and opened its mouth to spray water, causing the bamboo forest to fall one by one and the crab to fall into the river again. After the dragon chased it to the end, the waves rolled down the river, and then the black crab was never seen again. Later, not far from the bend of the river, a black stone in the shape of a crab was exposed, which is where Hualong strangled the crab essence. This stone was later called crab stone.

When the river was calm, I heard a woman's voice calling on the opposite beach. Buka saw that it was his wife. Buka immediately called several people to go swimming. After landing, Pei Guan said to Buka: "Thank you for the rescue of Hualong!" This just knows that Hualong saved her, and everyone is very grateful to Hualong. At this time, the flower dragon flew back to the upstream, nodding to people from time to time.

This matter soon spread all over Dongxiang. Everyone changed the small wooden bridge near the water surface into a big wooden bridge like an air corridor, and carved dragon patterns on the four central pillars of the bridge, wishing the dragon to stay there. After the completion of the big wooden bridge in the air corridor, a grand celebration ceremony was held, which was very lively. At this time, there are colorful clouds floating in the sky, shaped like a long dragon, shining in all directions. When people look closely, it is Hualong who comes back to visit everyone. Therefore, people later called this kind of bridge Huilong Bridge. Some places are also called flower bridge, and because it can shelter from wind and rain, it is also called wind and rain bridge.

2. The Legend of Huixian Bridge

Huixian Bridge is on Minzu Road in Yuzhong District, right in the center of the square in front of Huixian Building. Huixian Bridge disappeared a long time ago. My uncle came to work in Chongqing in the early 1920s and has never seen this bridge. But the place names in Huixian Bridge existed until the 1980s.

There were not many people in ancient Chongqing, and Daliangzi (now Xinhua Road) was still a forest. A stream flows down from Daliangzi, which is about Zhengyang Street, passes through Dayanggou, reaches Hongyadong and flows into Jialing River. Huixian Bridge is a bridge on this stream, which may be less than 10 meter long. It is called Huixian Bridge because it is said that someone met a fairy here. However, there are many versions of this legend.

There is a saying that an old man opened a cold pub under the bridge, and Taoist priests in Laojundong on the south bank often came to his restaurant to drink. The Taoist invited the old man to play in Laojun Cave. When the old man went, the Taoist invited him to eat tofu pudding and brought out a bowl of tofu pudding, which two people could never finish. In the afternoon, the old man returned to the pub. The old woman was surprised and said, "You haven't been back for many years?" The old man said, "You are crazy. I only played for half a day. " But when I looked in the mirror, I actually grew a long white beard. The old man realized that the Taoist priest he met was a fairy. People passed it on from mouth to mouth, so people called the bridge in front of the pub Huixian Bridge.

There is also a saying that there is a girl living under Hongyadong who often goes to the Jialing River to wash clothes. Once, her washing was washed away by the river. A single fisherman by the river saw it and rowed a fishing boat to pick it up for her. So, the two became acquainted. One day, the girl's mother died of illness. The girl has no money to be buried and is in a hurry to jump into the river. The fisherman saved her and said to her, "I found a golden carp on the Internet, and I immediately picked it and sold it. After selling it, I went to buy a shroud and a coffin. " Who knows, he carried the fish into the city, just walked to the bridge, and the lively golden carp were hard to die, so what money could he sell? I was so anxious that the fisherman jumped up and shouted on that bridge. At this moment, he heard a voice from the earth temple: "Get out of the way, the eight-hole fairy is coming!" " "He looked up and saw that there were eight beggars, but he knelt down and asked the gods for help. The leader was a lame old man with an iron cane, who said, "We are all beggars and we have never eaten ourselves. What can we do for you? The beggar with a sword picked up a stone and threw it into the fisherman's fish basket. He said, "All your fish are alive, why don't you sell them quickly?" "At first glance, the fisherman looks very hard. Throw the stone into another basket and the fish will live. Looking again, the beggars were gone. So the fisherman sold it for a good price, buried the girl's mother, married the girl and settled down on the bridge. This bridge is also called Huixian Bridge.

3. The Legend of Zhao Zhouqiao

The ancient Zhaozhou is now Zhaoxian County, Hebei Province. There are two stone bridges in Zhaozhou, one in the south and the other in the west. The Dashiqiao in the south of the city looks like Changhong on the river, which is magnificent. According to folklore, this big stone bridge was built by Luban. The small stone bridge in the west of the city looks like a little white dragon floating on the water. It is said that this small stone bridge was built by Luban's sister Lu Jiang. These two bridges are well built! "Little Cowherd" was staged on the stage, and there was such a lyric: "Grandpa Luban of Zhaozhou Shiqiao repaired it, the sage of the jade railing stayed, Zhang rode the donkey bridge, and the firewood rolled the ditch." This is the legend of Lubanxiu Zhao Zhouqiao.

According to legend, Lu Ban and his sister traveled around the world. When they arrived in Zhaozhou, a white river stopped them. People push carts, carry burdens, sell onions, sell garlic, ride horses to catch exams, and pull donkeys to catch meetings, making a scene and vying to cross the river into the city. There are only two boats swaying from side to side in the river, and few people can cross it for a long time. Lu Ban saw it and asked, "Why don't you build a bridge over the river?" People say, "The river is wide, the water is deep and the waves are urgent. Who dares to repair it? No one can find such a skillful craftsman who can play lanterns! " When Lu Ban heard this, he reached an agreement with his sister Lu Jiang to build two bridges for pedestrians.

Lu Ban said to his sister, "Let's build a big stone bridge first, and then a small one!"

Lu Jiang said, "All right!"

Luban said; "Repairing bridges is hard work, don't be afraid of hardship!"

Lu Jiang said: "Not afraid!"

Lu Ban said: "It's good not to be afraid. Your heart is stupid and your hands are clumsy. If you are afraid of suffering, you will be in trouble. " This sentence made Lu Jiang unhappy. She said unconvinced, "Don't blame me for being all thumbs. Today, we will repair it alone. You fix the big one, and I'll fix the small one. "

A game to see who can fix it quickly and well. "

Lu Ban said, "OK, let's play! When will it start and when will it be completed? " Lu Jiang said: "As soon as it gets dark, the stars will start to work, and chickens will call it morning." It's a deal. Brother and sister prepare separately.

Luban leisurely headed west towards the mountains. When Lu Jiang arrived in the west of the city, he hurried to do it. As she repaired it, she thought, don't be busy, I have to pull you down. Sure enough, the small stone bridge was repaired after midnight. Then she quietly ran to the south of the city to see what her brother had done. When I came to the south of the city, there was not even a bridge on the river. Luban is not by the river either. She thinks her brother will lose this time. I can see when I turn my head, on the Taihang Mountain in the west, a man is driving a flock of sheep to jump down the mountain. Looking closer, it turned out that her brother was driving the sheep. Where is the shepherd? The stone as white as snow and as smooth as jade has arrived. When these stones reached the river, they became processed stones in a blink of an eye. There are square bridge foundation stones, rectangular bridge deck stones, crescent-shaped arch ring stones and beautiful railings. Beautiful sentry boxes, all used on bridges, have everything. Lu Jiang was shocked when he saw it. How strong it would be to build a bridge with such a good stone! In contrast, the one I made is not good, and I need to find a way to remedy it quickly. It's too late to rebuild, so work hard to catch up with him in carving! She quietly returned to the west of the city and began to work. On the railing, she carved Pangu Tiankai and Dayu to control water, and also carved Cowherd and Weaver Girl and Feng Dan facing the sun. What rare birds and animals, exotic flowers and herbs, carved like real ones. Carving birds can spread their wings and fly, carving flowers and smelling incense. She was satisfied with this exquisite sculpture and ran to the south of the city to peek at Lu Ban. At first glance, I let out a cry of surprise. How did Changhong in the sky fall on the river? A closer look shows that my brother built the bridge, except for the last sentry on the bridge. Her uncle played a joke on his brother when he won the bet. She squatted behind Liu Kezi, holding her throat and stretching her neck, and "goo goo-"learned a cock crow. Her cry attracted chickens from nearby families. When Lu Ban heard the cock crow, he quickly put the last sentry on the bridge, and the bridge was completed.

The two bridges, one large and one small, are very beautiful. The big stone bridge in Luban is magnificent and durable; The small stone bridge built by Lu Jiang is exquisite and beautiful. Zhaozhou built two bridges overnight, and the next day it caused a sensation in the nearby prefectures and counties. Everyone saw it, and everyone praised it. Skillful craftsmen come here to learn skills, and girls with good skills come here to draw patterns. People who come to visit every day are like running water. This miracle soon reached the ears of Peng Caixian's daughter Zhang. Zhang does not believe it, he thinks that Lu Ban has such a great skill! I asked Master Chai to come and have a look. Zhang is riding a little black donkey and Chai Wang is pushing a unicycle. When they came to Zhaozhou Dashiqiao, they happened to meet Lu Ban standing on the bridge, watching the passers-by laughing! Zhang Lao Guo asked Lu Ban, "Did you build this bridge?" Lu Ban said, "Yes, what's the matter?" Zhang pointed to the unicycle of the little black donkey and Chai and said, "Can it stand when we cross the bridge?" Lu Ban gave them a fat look and said, "The big mule is in Malaysia, and the golden cart and silver cart are passable. Can't you get through driving a broken car in Xiao Lv? " Hearing this, Zhang felt that his breath was too loud, so he used magic to gather the sun and the moon together and put them in the wallet on the donkey's back. The sun was on the left and the moon was on the right. Master Chai also used magic to gather the five famous mountains and put them in the car. They laughed and pushed the donkey onto the bridge. As soon as I got on the bridge, I watched it flickering. Lu Ban quickly jumped under the bridge, raised his right hand to hold the bridge and saved it.

When they passed by, Zhang looked back at the bridge and said to Chai, "No weirdo praised it. This bridge built by Lu Ban is really a big talk to the West. " Chai Jun nodded and said yes, and gave a thumbs-up to Lu Ban who had just returned to the bridge. Lu Ban looked at their backs and said to himself, "These two are not simple!"

Now, on the bridge deck of Zhaozhou Stone Bridge, there are still footprints of riding a donkey and ditch marks rolled by Chai Wang's cart. Anyone who goes to Zhaozhou Shiqiao can see that there is a big handprint under the bridge, but now it is not clear.

(Note: According to historical records, Zhao Zhouqiao was designed and built by Li Chun, a craftsman of Sui Dynasty. )

4. The Legend of Wuliqiao

Wuliqiao is a stone arch bridge. Between Zhuchang Village and wuli village, Zhuchang Town, Wudang District, Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, the local Buyi people have a legend about the origin of this bridge.

A long time ago, Zhu Chang had a wide and deep river. On both sides of the river, there are two villages. One day, people from two villages organized dozens of strong laborers and built a wooden bridge over the river, which was more than ten feet long and three feet wide. However, the wooden bridge disappeared the next day. Everyone thought that the bridge was not well repaired and was washed away by the water, so they chose the strongest wood and hired skilled craftsmen to build a second bridge.

That night, something strange happened. On the moonlit night, the wind suddenly blew hard, dark clouds rolled, lightning flashed and thunder thundered, and it rained cats and dogs. The waves rolled on the river, as if to scour the cliffs on both sides. After a black wave dispersed, a monster appeared on the river and said maliciously, "build a bridge and want to walk over me." Hum, I see you build it! " Fix one and I'll break one, and let you taste the power of my old dragon soul. "Say that finish, it will shake the body and become a dragon with its teeth bared. It dived into the water and set off a wild wave of tens of feet. There was a crash, and the wooden bridge suddenly turned into countless pieces of wood, drifting downstream along the bad waves.

Early the next morning, people from two villages came to the river and found that the wooden bridge was gone again. Everyone talked about it, and some said, "Which conscience has broken the bridge?" Some said, "I'm afraid it was washed away by the flood!" " "Others said," may be blown down by the wind. "Everyone has been telling me that no one is sure how the bridge collapsed, so we have to put it down.

A year has passed in a blink of an eye, and people on both sides of the strait have suffered from a long journey. After much discussion, they decided to build a tall stone bridge with stones instead of wood.

After five months of hard work, a tall stone arch bridge was finally built. The shape of this bridge is very simple, and there are a pair of glaring lions at both ends of the bridge. Seen from a distance, it looks like a beautiful changhong. Because the village in the north of this bridge is five miles away from the village in the southeast, people call this bridge "Wuli Bridge".

One night soon after the stone bridge was repaired, the monster Old Longjing came to the river again. When it set off bad waves and was ready to wash away the stone bridge, suddenly there were circles of golden light under the bridge, and at the same time there was a thunderous roar on the bridge. Lao Longling got a fright. It was about to go into the water when suddenly a golden circle flew in and its skull was caught in a flash. Then, a big chain flew in and tied its body tightly. The old dragon was in pain and rolled on the water. At this time, an old man standing in the middle of the bridge was holding a cold and shining sword, pointing to the old dragon spirit and shouting loudly, "Evil dragon god, dare you do evil?" Old Dragon Spirit was terrified out of her wits, so she quickly knelt down and begged for mercy.

It turned out that an immortal saw the old dragon soul overturn the wooden bridge and kill the creatures, so he told the jade emperor that he ordered him to treat the old dragon soul. Seeing that Lao Long Jing had confessed, he was afraid that other monsters would make trouble, so he turned his sword and let a pair of golden ducks fly into the dock with their golden poles. Then, the immortal returned to heaven with the old dragon spirit. For hundreds of years, the golden ducks and this golden shoulder pole have been guarding this stone bridge, making it still intact across the river bank.

5. The Legend of Qiao Feng

A temple can only have one monk in charge. Hanshan and two monks are in a temple. Who will be the host? The two monks are very polite, and pushing and shoving is of no help. It doesn't matter when there are only two monks in this temple. Problems will arise when a group of young monks come in one after another. The young monk asked, "Old monk, which scripture did you read today?" Hanshan said, "You should ask the master to pick it up first." The young monk went to ask Pickup, who said, "Let's ask Master Hanshan." They respect each other, but they suffer from the young monk, how to entertain pilgrims, how much sesame oil to buy, who to send to collect firewood, and so on. The young monk is at a loss, and if he has any opinions, it is hard to be vague. The young monk's words reached Hanshan's ears and picked them up. They discussed them again and pushed them around, but there was still no result. Then an old peasant woman came up and said, "Second Master, don't be modest. Let me give you an idea. It's fairest for you to be a big monk. " Picking it up in the cold mountain is an idea. However, compared with what, the peasant woman pointed to a river in front of the temple and said that there was no bridge on this river, so it was inconvenient and dangerous for villagers to cross the river. Please use your magic to change this bridge, and the skilled one will come out. Monks don't gossip, and they are not afraid of hiding spells when picking them up in cold mountains. Sure enough, they cast spells first, took off their robes and threw them into the river, turning them into bridge decks. Unfortunately, there is no bridge support. After a while, when the wind blows, it will collapse. Hanshan hurriedly inserted the mord in his hand into the river and carried the magic weapon on his back. The mord suddenly turned into a tree. When the tree crossed the river, a bridge stood firmly on the river. The old peasant woman smiled and said, "Hanshan is more capable." As she spoke, she threw her handkerchief at her feet and it turned into a lotus flower. She stepped on the lotus and rose into the air. Hanshan picked it up and looked at it. It turns out that the old peasant woman was changed by Guanyin. Hanshan should be a responsible monk, and that temple is also called Hanshan Temple. Hanshan's mord was cut from a maple tree, so this bridge is naturally called "Maple Bridge".

Sugar Bridge-It is said that Ji Fang Bridge in Sanguan (now Guangming) Town was originally a bamboo bridge, which is very dangerous for pedestrians. One day, a sugar changer passed by and said, "This bridge is so neglected? If I have money, I will build a new one. " Once, the sugar changer changed a pair of gold amitabha Buddha in a ruined official, and made a fortune from then on. So he raised first-class stones, hired skilled craftsmen, demolished the bamboo bridge, and built a three-hole stone arch bridge named Ji Fang Bridge. In memory of him, the locals called him "Sugar Bridge".

Qinqin Bridge-Hundreds of meters north of nanqiao town, there is a small stone bridge called Qinqin Bridge. According to legend, a long time ago, an official named Qian gave birth to three daughters. The youngest daughter played the piano very well. There is a young man nearby named Han Zhong, who is also a master of playing the piano. After a long time, the two fell in love, and Master Qian refused. The daughter had to persuade Han to go back to Beijing to practice the piano and win fame, and the father agreed to their marriage. Han left in tears. But money forced her daughter to marry a powerful man, and her daughter missed Han Zhong and died with a grudge. Soon after, Han Zhong came back and learned that his lover was dead, so he sat on a small stone bridge and played a sad song to show his memory. Play, throw yourself into the river.

Emperor Qianlong saw Gao Qiao —— There was a stone arch bridge in Gao Qiao Town, Fengcheng, which was built in the sixth year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty. Legend has it that a local squire went out and was asked where he came from. He said Gao Qiao. The man asked how tall Gao Qiao was. He boasted: "On the first day, half the moon banged." The story spread to Emperor Qianlong and aroused his interest. He wanted to visit Gao Qiao in the south of the Yangtze River. The ship entered Huangpu River from Dianshan Lake and sailed straight to Fengxian, passing through Shengli Port. Gan Long asked, "Here and where?" The waiter replied, "This is Victory Harbor." When Qianlong heard the word "victory", he was delighted and ordered to return to the DPRK. Gan Long returned to Gao Qiao squire halfway in Coke, so he was glad to avoid a fatal disaster to cheat the king.

Mahjong Bridge-During the Daoguang period of Qing Dynasty, a bridge named Mahjong Bridge was built on Huajing River. There was no bridge here before, so it was inconvenient for pedestrians. There is an old man named Zhou who hates folk gambling very much. He gathered 10 people of insight, surrounded all casinos, arrested gamblers, confiscated financial bets and destroyed financial instruments. Confiscated gambling proceeds were used to build the bridge. It's ruined now.

Broken Bridge-At the beginning of liberation, there was a small bridge village in Zhuanghang. I don't know when it was, but it was regarded as a treasure trove by Mr. Feng Shui. One day, two Feng Shui gentlemen came to Xiaoqiao Village with compasses, and both of them wanted to set a "context". I saw the village chief singing loudly, the red flag flying, and the farmers ploughing in the spring. Seeing this, the two Feng Shui gentlemen shook their heads and sighed, "Feng Shui is lifeless, so we can't lie any more." After that, he threw his compass on the bridge and debris flew everywhere. Since then, this small bridge has been called "Broken Banqiao".

Jade Crab Bridge-Xinya Village, Jintouqiao Township, with three north-south stone bridges at the top, hence the name Stone Crab Bridge. According to legend, there is a stone crab carved on the west side of the original bridge deck. People often mistakenly think that the real crab is on the bridge, hence the name. One day, treasure hunters in Jiangxi discovered that the stone crab was stolen on a snowy night, leaving only a crab-shaped concave on the bridge deck. People thought that it was not the ordinary stone crab that was stolen, but the jade crab. Thus, Jade Crab Bridge became famous.

Legend of Qiancheng Bridge

Legend has it that CuO Bridge was destroyed and built because of the struggle between two Hebo. During this period, I don't know how many people died in the belly of fish, and how many people went back and forth around the cliff, sighing at the river. In the Qing Dynasty, Zhou Daquan was charitable and uneasy about building bridges. One night, Zhou Daquan dreamed that a golden rooster came down from the ground and stood by the river. His outstretched wings were just on both sides. In the dim light, he saw a bodhisattva standing on the chicken's back. Realizing that this was the guidance of the gods, Dun immediately went forward to raise money to rebuild the CuO Bridge and hired skilled craftsmen from all directions. According to the memory in the dream, the whole bridge was designed according to the image of a rooster. For good luck, people call it a thousand riding bridges.

The legend of killing bridges

One day, it was widely rumored in shengze town that the Taiping Army had crossed the horizon, and all the soldiers and rich people in the town fled in fear.

When we arrived at Jufu Bridge, it was crowded, narrow and crowded, and the bridge was blocked immediately. Just then, there was a cry of funeral.

: "The material is coming! The materials are coming! " It means that the coffin is coming, please make way. Qing soldiers and wealth scrambled to escape.

In his panic, God made no distinction. He listened to the cry of "materials are coming" behind him and mistakenly thought that Taiping Army materials were coming (all of them) and crossed the bridge. Frightened, I pricked (squeezed) hard.

Suddenly, they made a mess, trampled on each other, or were trampled to death, or fell into the water and drowned. Since then, Jufu Bridge has been renamed Zhasha Bridge.

Xier bridge

According to legend, Yao wanted to pass on the world, so he listened with pride and thought that he had polluted his ears, so he went to the river to wash his ears. Later, people built a bridge at Xu You's ear washing place, which is now Ruzhou, Henan Province, and named it "ear washing bridge".
