What are the extreme weather?

Xinhuanet Tianjin Channel June 9 th After several weeks of high temperature weather test, Beijing ushered in the city's strongest rainfall this year on the 8 th, and Tianjin, Hubei, Hunan, Chongqing and other provinces and cities also suffered the biggest rainstorm since the flood season. According to the China Meteorological Bureau, recently, strong convective weather is becoming the main role in the weather stage in China, and has caused some extremely bad weather in Henan, Shanghai and Zhejiang.

June to August is the main flood season in China. According to the forecast of the National Climate Center, there are many meteorological years in China this year, and extreme weather such as typhoon, rainstorm, high temperature, drought and strong convection has a high incidence, heavy disaster, wide range and great influence.

Since the beginning of the main flood season, large-scale rainfall caused by strong convective weather has occurred in Beijing, Chongqing, Hubei, Hunan, Guangxi, Henan, Anhui, Inner Mongolia and other provinces, cities and autonomous regions.

Among them, 63 counties and districts in Anhui Province 15 suffered from strong winds, short-term heavy rainfall, lightning, hail and other disasters, and 20 people died due to the disaster; Hunan Province, which has experienced catastrophic floods in history, is more likely to have heavy rainfall in the later period because of the relatively small rainfall in the early stage, and the strongest rainfall began to appear from north to south on the night of the 7 th; Since the flood season, there have been three heavy rains in Hubei Province. Due to the strong thunderstorm in Wangjiang and Liu Dong sections of Yangtze River Road, seven ships sank and six people were missing.

Some places have also encountered rare extreme weather phenomena such as squall line, hail and tornado. Strong convective weather such as thunderstorm, gale and hail occurred in Henan, Anhui, Shanxi, Shandong and Jiangsu from June 3 12 to 5: 00 on June 4, among which strong squall lines appeared in Zhengzhou, Kaifeng and Shangqiu in Henan, and then spread to northern Anhui and Heze in Shandong. According to statistics from the Ministry of Civil Affairs, 27 people died in five provinces.

June 5th is World Environment Day Day. On this day, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, most parts of Anhui Province and Shanghai City almost suffered from thunderstorms, strong winds and hail at the same time. The maximum diameter of hail measured in Tongxiang, Zhejiang Province is 18mm. More than 8,000 residential buildings in Shanghai were once blacked out, although it did not cause great losses, but it has already made Shanghai residents feel "a little scary". The next day, some areas in Suizhou, Hubei Province were hit by tornadoes and hail, causing 1 person to be seriously injured.

The Central Meteorological Observatory said that it will continue to issue rainstorm forecasts and severe convective weather forecasts.

Zheng Guoguang, director of China Meteorological Bureau, recently stressed at the emergency video conference of meteorological services in flood season in 2009 that "we should do our best to do the flood season work". Meteorological services in flood season will be strengthened from eight aspects: strengthening responsibility implementation, monitoring and forecasting, disaster early warning service, service pertinence, joint prevention and control, emergency response, service summary and safety production.

Frequent extreme weather also makes local meteorological departments and flood control and disaster relief departments "imminent". At present, meteorological departments such as Beijing and Hubei have issued yellow lightning warnings and started emergency mechanisms; Hunan Province urgently launched a three-level corresponding plan after two consecutive days of heavy rainfall from the 7th to the 8th. Meteorological departments around the country attacked by squall lines and tornadoes have issued red warnings to the local area and made relevant warnings.

June is the wheat harvest season in the northern cities of China. The heavy rainfall has brought certain influence to the main wheat producing areas such as Hebei, Shandong, Henan and Tianjin, and the wheat has lodging and threshing in different degrees. Meteorological departments in these areas are paying close attention to weather changes and providing timely weather information for farmers.

"Hebei Province has made preparations for weather modification in advance," said Zhu, deputy director of the Hebei Provincial Department of Agriculture. "If there is no major natural disaster in the main wheat producing areas in the later period, 35.9 million mu of wheat in Hebei Province is expected to increase production for six consecutive years."

In response to the large-scale heavy rainfall in Beijing and Tianjin on the 8th, Guo, director of the Climate Center of Beijing Meteorological Bureau, said in an interview with Xinhua News Agency: "Today's citywide precipitation is very helpful to alleviate the drought in Beijing, but it still needs to be clear that Beijing is still in the background of less precipitation, and the shortage of water resources is still an important problem facing Beijing."

According to scientific research, in recent 50 years, the annual precipitation in North China, the eastern and southern parts of Northeast China and the eastern part of Northwest China has obviously decreased, while the precipitation in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, Jianghuai area, South China and Northwest China has obviously increased.

Zheng Guoguang said recently that 2009 is a crucial year for mankind to cope with climate change, and China, as a responsible big country, has formulated a plan for China to cope with climate change. (xinhuanet)
