Daxinganling is the western part of Daxinganling, located in the northeast of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the northwest of Heilongjiang Province. It is the largest and well-preserved virgin forest in China, and the watershed between Inner Mongolia Plateau and Songliao Plain.

Daxinganling starts from the Heilongjiang River bank in Mohe City, Heilongjiang Province in the north and reaches the upper reaches of the Xilamulun River in the north of Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in the south, with a northeast-southwest trend. The geographical coordinates are 43 N to 53 30' N,117 20' e to 126 E, with a total length of 1400 kilometers.

The total area is 327,200 square kilometers (including about 240,000 square kilometers in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and 84,800 square kilometers in Heilongjiang Province). Daxinganling is one of the important forestry bases in China, with dense virgin forests. The main tree species are Larix gmelinii and Pinus sylvestris var.mongolica.. The average elevation of Daxinganling is 1, 200 ~ 1, 300 meters, and the highest peak is 2035 meters. Daxinganling starts from Heilongjiang and Ergon in the north and reaches the upper reaches of Xilamulun River in the south. Taking Taoer River as the boundary, it is divided into south and north sections. The northern section is 770km long and is a cold temperate coniferous forest area dominated by Larix gmelinii. The southern section, also known as Suke Xielu Mountain, is about 600km long. It is a medium-sized mountain with forest and grassland vegetation.
