The reason why you feel cold when it is windy in winter.
The wind itself will not lower the temperature. For example, the same temperature is 10℃, when it is not windy, it is 10℃ when it is windy. However, wind can reduce the somatosensory temperature.
The temperature that our body usually feels is not the real atmospheric temperature, but the temperature of the thin air layer around our body (hereinafter referred to as the "small air layer").
The weather is cold and the temperature is lower than the body temperature. At this time, the body is heating the small air layer for you in obscurity, so the temperature of the small air layer is slightly higher than the temperature and slightly lower than the body temperature. If there is a strong wind at this time, the small air layer that was easily heated by your body will be blown away with a loud cry and replaced by a "new" small air layer with lower temperature, and you will naturally feel cold.
In addition, there is another reason. Even in cold weather, water will evaporate from our skin. The evaporation of water in the human body needs heat, and this heat comes from the heat in our body and the air attached to our body. When there is no wind, the air is almost still, and the evaporation of human water is very slow, because the air layer attached to the skin is quickly saturated with water vapor (evaporation cannot be carried out in water vapor saturated air). When there is wind, the air is flowing, the air attached to the skin is constantly changing, and the water vapor in the air is constantly in an unsaturated state, so evaporation is often smooth, and a lot of heat is lost from our bodies with evaporation.
6. Because the human body's sensory temperature is subjective and can't be measured, the temperature can't absolutely reflect the somatosensory temperature, but an index called "wind chill index" can basically reflect the sensory temperature. According to this index, people can arrange their daily life more scientifically and reasonably, thus ensuring human health and quality of life.
7. Wind chill index is a subjective feeling index of human body to cold, and factors such as rain or shine, wind power and temperature are comprehensively considered, so that people can take corresponding measures more conveniently to adapt to weather changes. Generally speaking, when the wind chill index is defined as "cold", the somatosensory temperature is relatively low and people will feel cold. At this time, patients with heart disease and the elderly and infirm should avoid going out of the warm room suddenly. Wear enough clothes when you go out, and keep your head, back and limbs warm.
