Liu Zongyuan's creative background in Liuzhou has been demoted to Yongzhou Sima for ten years and has been unhappy. He thinks that although Liuzhou is farther away from the Central Plains than Yongzhou, it is more remote and has worse conditions, but as the owner of a state, it is different from the past when he worked as a Sima in Yongzhou. With political power, he can still make a difference here. So I went deep into people's lives, customs and habits, and cared about their sufferings. The poem Liu Meng is about his intimate life with Dong Meng in Liuzhou.
Appreciate the feelings of the first two sentences of this poem when it was first written in Liuzhou. "Chengnan County meets Tianjin, and the different clothes are not amiable." These two sentences are always, the word "unfriendly" is full of sighs, which naturally opens the following.
The four sentences in the middle continue to write about Mongolian life and customs. Most villagers in Liuzhou live in mountain villages, and the necessities of daily life, especially salt, have to go to the county market to buy. Therefore, three or four sentences went on to describe their market situation: "Green salt goes to the villagers, and green fried rice takes advantage of the virtual people." In other words, it is very hard for us to go to the market to buy salt. The fifth sentence "goose feathers sew caves" is written to keep out the cold for the people. It is said that in cold December, people use quilts made of goose feathers to keep out the cold. The next sentence goes on to write the superstitious customs of Mongols. "chicken bones need to worship the water god every year." It is a superstitious custom of Mongolians to choose the year with chicken bones, and it is believed that divination can tell the quality of the year. "Worship the water god" means worship the water god. Monks used chicken bones for divination and asked the water god to pray for a bumper harvest in a year. The above four sentences describe the poor life and superstitious customs of Liuzhou Dongman, which are full of local color.
The last two sentences express their own thoughts and their willingness to do as the Romans do. "I'm worried about the court's request for retranslation, and I want to submit Zhang Fu's composition." Zhuangzi Xiaoyao said: The Song people went to Vietnam to sell a hat for clothes, but the Vietnamese got tattooed and didn't need it. This story is used here to show that you are willing to do as the Romans do. The author doesn't want to get in touch with Miao Meng only through a translator in court, but rather wants to get rid of the costumes of the literati in the Central Plains, follow the customs of Miao Meng, tattoo his body, learn their appearance and get close to them.
This poem faithfully describes the intimate life of the poet and the minority people in Liuzhou in plain language. At first, I felt that "clothes with different sounds are not amiable." Finally, I want to contribute Zhang Fu's composition. The poet himself does not believe in God, and there are superstitious customs among the people, but he refuses to alienate and is willing to be with them, showing the idea of doing as the Romans do. For a local official in a feudal society, this is commendable. Because of this, when he was appointed as the secretariat of Liuzhou, his administration was able to proceed from the reality of people's lives and did many good things for them, such as reducing taxes, guiding people to develop production, improving their lives, setting up schools, cultivating talents, and especially trying to redeem many pawned children of the poor and free them from the fate of slaves. Therefore, although the author was appointed as the secretariat of Liuzhou and died only four years ago, he has always been deeply impressed with Liuzhou. Up to now, Liuzhou still has the "Liu Hou Temple" to commemorate him.
