The weather and climate of Tibet University in one year

Tibet has a complex terrain. Every time the altitude rises 100 meters, the ground temperature drops by 0.6℃ on average. According to the standard of dividing seasons by temperature, the area above 4500 meters above sea level is winter all year round. For example, the annual average temperature in Naqu is -2. 1℃, which is 5.7℃ lower than that in Harbin. In Lhasa, where the climate is mild, the average annual temperature is only 7.5℃, which is 8-9℃ lower than that in the plain area at the same latitude.

The extreme maximum temperature in Lhasa in summer is 29.4℃. The extreme minimum temperature in winter is-16.5℃, which is 0.8℃ higher than that in Hankou. The annual temperature change in Tibet is small because the cold air is blocked by the plateau and its northern mountains when it goes south in winter, and its power is greatly weakened, while the rainy weather plays a cooling role in summer.

Compared with Chengdu, Changsha and other places, the daily temperature difference on the plateau is above 1 time, so the main valley areas in our region are not only quite cool in summer, but also not cold in winter, mainly because the temperature rises rapidly after sunrise.
