The Historical Origin of Zhu Xi and Gong Mi
The story takes place in a small mountain village called Pengyugou in Zhongfeng Town, Zhuxi County, where there is a legendary land of Gong Mi. In 683, Tang Zhongzong Li Xian came to power, but the emperor had not been in office for a year. Mother Wu Zetian regained the throne, was demoted to the king of Luling, and was exiled to Fangxian County thousands of miles away. Li Xian and his family set out from the capital Chang 'an, crossed the Qinling Mountains and crossed Zhuxiguan to reach the center. At this time, local officials in Zhuxi greeted Li Xian, king of Luling. The local county magistrate was honored to see the arrival of the former emperor, took out the best local things and warmly hosted distinguished guests in these palaces. Li Xian was bumpy for a long time, thirsty and hungry all the way. In addition, the weather is hot along the way. He will never forget this kind of rice made of Pengyugou rice when he eats it. Later, after the Empress Wu Zetian ate it, she was so full of praise that she immediately named the rice imperial court Gong Mi.
Later, after Li Xian returned to Chang 'an and became emperor, he could not forget the sweetness of rice in Zhuxi and ate Gong Mi in Zhuxi every year. During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, Zhang Wang, then the magistrate of Zhuxi County, saw that Zhuxi rice was unusual and was a treasure in rice. In order to please the emperor of the dynasty, he sent someone to send the rice here to Beijing. Ming Shenzong had eaten Zhuxi rice, and immediately ordered Zhuxi rice to be designated as "Gong Mi" and paid tribute every year. It is said that the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty was also designated as "Gong Mi".
