Unforgettable army (2)
From May 20 13 to June 0/KLOC-0, our 6th Battalion went to Hainan for training, which was the first time that our brigade landed on the island since the establishment of 1985. Because I am not familiar with Hainan's climate, environment and topography, the training time is relatively long. Although I am training, I actually have a "special mission". It is not an easy task to successfully complete this training task. The leader of the army decided to let our battalion carry out this task, which is a trust in the combat effectiveness of our battalion and also a trust in me as a commander. During the training, the brigade leader, deputy Liu, followed the command of the team. Our battalion, led by Deputy Chief Liu, carried out this task.
After three kinds of trans-regional long-distance maneuvers, such as railway transportation, cross-sea shipping and motorized marching, we arrived at the training ground in Lingshui, Hainan, which is the first time in the history of our brigade to use three kinds of maneuvers at the same time in a mission.
When I came to Hainan, I faced more difficulties than I expected. Not only to face the hot weather, but also to endure mosquito bites; Not only for campsites, but also for the parking and development of more than 60 equipment and vehicles; We should not only solve the problem of drinking water, but also solve a series of problems such as bath water. Fortunately, all these problems have been properly solved under the planning of Deputy Director Liu.
May and June should be the hottest time in Hainan every year, and we just catch up. On the first day of stationing, all the officers and men opened a campsite in the scorching sun, reclaimed a small piece of wasteland and set up tents.
In one day, many officers and men were sunburned. Of course, I was not spared. For this reason, I got dermatitis. All kinds of ointments didn't work, and they were cured by cryotherapy in 304 Hospital. According to the local topography, we adopted the method of combining decentralized configuration and centralized parking for equipment and vehicles, which greatly solved the problem of insufficient space. And coordinate with local fruit farmers to solve the bath water problem, and coordinate with local garrison to solve the drinking water problem.
In the whole training process, typhoons and rainstorms are the most experienced, most impressive and unforgettable. After five months of training, almost every day is sunny during the day and rainy at night. The officers and men slept in tents, and it was very humid at night. Lying on the floor (bed board with triangular wood) is particularly uncomfortable. During the day, as soon as the sun shines, the tent is particularly hot, and there is a feeling of being "steamed" inside, and it is impossible to rest at noon. In order to solve this problem, the army leaders specially approved the funds to buy a sunshade net and put it on the tent, which eased the problem of being steamed.
After entering June, typhoons gradually increased, and there was a typhoon every three or five times. When the typhoon comes, it will definitely rain. The typhoon caused the tent to fall apart, and the soil around the tent was often washed away by the rain. The officers and men are ready to reinforce and drain the tent at any time. In this way, all our officers and men lived in tents for five months.
In late September, on behalf of Liu, he returned to the team early because of something in the army. In the next time, we have no big task (we have received the order to return to work), mainly to prepare the troops to return to work. Overhaul vehicles, prepare materials, maintain fixed chains, coordinate cross-sea and railway transportation plans, and refuel vehicles.
There is a fellow villager named Huang in the nearby village. Because I often contacted him about the venue, I became familiar with him after a long time (we have kept in touch for many years since then, and he specially sent me Hainan local products). I usually call him Boss Huang. 10 1 that day, he passed by our training ground and talked to me. He said, "The typhoon is coming. Why aren't you prepared? " . I said, "When? Why didn't you hear the forecast? " He said: "Today is coming, the center of this typhoon is here, and the wind is very strong. You should be prepared in advance. Can I still live in a tent? If not, you can move to the memorial hall (when Hainan was solved, the four fields hit Hainan Island, so someone invested to build a memorial hall here, which was taken care of by this boss Huang and another person). "
After Boss Huang left, I quickly asked someone to check the weather forecast. The weather forecast has indeed been reported, and it will land tonight or early tomorrow morning. Time is tight and the task is heavy. In the absence of the brigade commander, there can be no problem with the safety of the troops. This matter can't be delayed, let alone delayed. The safety of all officers and men comes first. So, in the absence of the instructor's shopping, I immediately organized a meeting between the command room and the commanders and instructors of the whole company to arrange the deployment to deal with the typhoon problem. The troops are required to load goods, withdraw tents and camp in the memorial hall at night.
The troops camped in the memorial hall on time and landed in the typhoon at night. The typhoon is really big. The next day, when I went back to my original camping place, I saw it was a mess beyond recognition. The sunshade net was torn by the typhoon, and the coconut trees with thick bowls on the roadside were blown down by the typhoon. Seeing all this, I am gratified by the correct decision. I am very glad that all the officers and men are unscathed, and the equipped vehicles have not fallen off safely, which has not lived up to the expectations of the leaders.
As an army commander, in peacetime, while leading officers and men to accomplish their tasks well, they should also be brought back safely. This is not only a responsibility to the soldiers and themselves, but also a confession and commitment to the army leaders and soldiers' parents. The first time I went to Hainan for training, although our battalion created many firsts in the history of our brigade, it is more important to sum up experience and lay a solid foundation for future missions such as landing training and exercises.
