Where is Alashan?

Alashan League is located in the westernmost part of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, at the intersection of Hubao Yuyin Economic Zone and Longhai Lanxin Economic Belt. It is connected with Wuhai, Bayannaoer and Erdos in the east and northeast, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in the south and southeast, Gansu Province in the west and southwest, and Mongolia in the north. The border line is 735 kilometers long.

Geographical coordinates are between 9710 ′-106 53 ′ east longitude and 37 24 ′-42 47 ′ north latitude. The area under its jurisdiction is 83 1km long from east to west and 598 km wide from north to south, with a total area of about 270,000 square kilometers, accounting for 22.8% of the total area of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Alxa League belongs to inland high plains region, with high terrain in the south and low terrain in the north, alternating deserts and Gobi, surrounded by hills and mountains. The mountainous area of the League is 34,400 square kilometers, the hilly area is 1.36 million square kilometers, the Gobi area is 62,900 square kilometers, and the desert area is 63,700 square kilometers. The highest altitude is 3554.2 meters, which is the highest peak in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The lowest point of Yingen Basin is 740 meters above sea level.
