Xinyang is located at the southernmost tip of Henan Province.

Xinyang City is located in the south of Henan Province, between east longitude113 45 "and north latitude115 55" and north latitude 30 23 ". It is adjacent to Anhui in the east and Hubei in the south, at the junction of Hubei, Henan and Anhui provinces, between the northern foot of Dabie Mountain and the upper reaches of Huaihe River. The whole territory is about 205 kilometers long from east to west and 142 kilometers wide from north to south, with a total area of 18900 square kilometers.
