History and culture
Qianling Mountain, known as the Blissful Peak in history, is located in Maanshan, northwest of Wang Zuo Town. Its main peak is 699 meters above sea level and is one of the highest peaks in the suburbs of Beijing. Climb to the top of the mountain and overlook the panoramic view of Beijing; When the weather is good, Maoer Mountain in the southwest, Baicaopan, Baihua Mountain, Laolongwo and Qingshui River in the northwest.
Mount Yang and Mount Miaofeng in the north, and famous suburban mountains over 1,000 meters in the northeast, such as Li Longshan, Lotus Mountain, Phoenix Tuo, Black Camel Mountain and Yunmeng Mountain, are clearly visible, which are the best peaks in the suburbs of Beijing (the peak of Dongling Mountain is submerged in the Baihua Mountain-Laolongwo-Qingshuijian mountain ridge, but the snow in Dongling Mountain in June-April every year can easily be distinguished from the ridge above).
There is Fairy Valley at the foot of the mountain and 18 caves in the ravine, which is the largest Buddhist cave group in Beijing. Among them, Guanyin Cave, Sunrise Sanhui Cave, Blissful Cave, Sun Bin Cave, Guangong Cave, Caishen Cave, Laoye Cave and Little Guanyin Cave are famous. Qianling Mountain Buddhism has a long history and rich cultural heritage.
According to historical records, it is speculated that Buddhism spread here as early as before the Tang Dynasty. There is a folk saying that "there is bliss peak first, then there is Jietai Temple". Since the Tang Dynasty, it has been the territory of Jietai Temple. As a secluded place of monks in this temple, it has prospered and declined together with Jietai Temple, and has performed a glorious history of more than 1,400 years, leaving valuable Buddhist cultural resources.
