Weathering pigeon

Now, for racing pigeons, wing feather and tail feather are two very important parts, which must be carefully studied. The flapping of wings produces lift to overcome its own weight and driving force in progress, which is the power source for homing pigeons to fly. It is not difficult to lift the wings, and the air passes through the cracks in the feathers. When the wings paddle down, the shaft feathers overlap in fan shape, the air is discharged along the back and lower part of the body, and the body slides forward.

If the rear four main wings have sharp feathers, narrow areas, large gaps between feathers and good exhaust performance, it will help homing pigeons fly for a long time and resist bad weather when flying against the wind. If the feathers of the last four main wings are wider than those of Fiona Fang, the homing pigeon wings with tight wing structures will have greater displacement, greater lift and faster speed when flapping. But it is advisable to fight in a short time or fly with the wind, because this kind of pigeon is too hard to fly and its wings can't cover it. It is also called secondary flight feather. When flying, it can get great lift and make the body float in the air. Carrier pigeons with long wings and feathers have wide wings and good gliding performance, which is beneficial to their long-distance flight and good endurance. Carrier pigeons with short wings have poor gliding performance and can only flap their wings constantly, so they are good at short distance and fast.

The last three homing pigeons are required to be about the same length, or the ninth one is slightly longer, forming a large arc surface, which is beneficial for homing pigeons to fully flap their wings.

The homing pigeon's tail consists of pairs of axial feathers, which overlap each other, and the two ends are tightly stacked together to form a feather width, which is fan-shaped after deployment. The function of tail feather is mainly to change the flight direction, balance the body and adapt to various flight requirements, such as increasing or decreasing the speed and landing.

The tail and trunk are generally symmetrical and have a good sense of balance. Pigeons with short tails have no resistance, fast speed and strong explosive force, which are suitable for short and medium-range play; Pigeons with long tail feathers have good buoyancy, gliding and endurance, and are suitable for long-distance and ultra-long-distance flight.
