Legends related to Qing Yongling Mausoleum
In the 19th year of Qianlong (1754), Emperor Qianlong traveled eastward for the second time, offering a sacred tree to an ancient elm tree in Yongling City. There is also a folklore about this tree: "When Nurhachi's grandfather came down from Changbai Mountain with his ancestors' bones on his back, when he walked to Yongling, he saw that it was very late and was going to stay in a hotel. But people were superstitious at that time and wouldn't let him stay in a hotel, but he suddenly found a stout elm tree at the foot of Qiaoshan Mountain and a branch three feet from the ground. He was so happy that he took down the bones of his ancestors and put them on the tree. The next day, after a storm, when I was ready to go on the road in the morning, I came to the tree and found that the bones could not be taken down. He was in a hurry and stopped hard. As a result, he bled along the tree fork. He was afraid and called Mr. Feng Shui from the local area. Come to the tree and tell him, "This is a treasure trove of geomantic omen, and the mountain behind it is Long Mai. The one opposite is called Chimney Hill, and there is a steep river around it. You accidentally put the bone. "After some investigation, I found that this dragon is east-west, with the dragon head in the west and the dragon tail in the east, winding up and down, with twelve ridges (hills) of different sizes. Mr. Feng Shui predicted that his descendants would have twelve generations. Later generations also said that from Nurhachi's accession to the throne, known as the Han Dynasty, to the last emperor Puyi of the Qing Dynasty, it happened to be the Twelve Emperors. Because the size of the mountain is different, it is doomed that the length of the emperor's reign is different.
This sacred tree fell down during the Tongzhi period. According to historical records, on July 13th, the second year of Tongzhi (1863), a storm blew down the sacred tree. In the southwest, the trunk collapsed Yun Qi Hall, and the top of the tree reached the front eaves of Yun Qi Hall. During the Puppet Manchukuo period, the last emperor Puyi sent Prince Gong to pay a special visit to the Yongling Festival, and kept photos, namely "sacred trees" and huge brackets.
