The Real Relationship between Yang Ye and Pan Mei: Do Pan Mei and Yang Ye have any enemies?

Yang Ye (? —986), formerly known as Chonggui, also known in drama or novel, was born in Taiyuan (now Taiyuan, Shanxi Province) and was a famous player in the Northern Song Dynasty. The official went to Yunzhou to observe the ambassador, acting as the judge of the state, and presented Qiu and Datong Army with our time. Yang Ye's father, Yang Xin, was the secretariat of Linzhou (now Shenmu, Shaanxi) in the later Han Dynasty.

In March of the fifth year of Taiping, Xingguo and Liao army were defeated by Yanmenguan and the Qidan earthquake. In the third year of Yongxi, he went to the northern expedition with the army. Threatened by Wang Shu, the supervisor of the army, he resolutely asked the troops to go out. As a result, it was defeated in Langya village and could not be supported. Finally, it was surrounded by Chen Jiagu (now Ningwu, Shanxi). Seeing that there was no support, Yang Ye bowed to his knees in great fear, and then led his troops to turn around and fight. He was injured in dozens of places all over his body, and his foot soldiers suffered heavy casualties. Yang Ye fearless, hand blade hundreds of people. The horse was badly injured and could not move forward. Exhausted and captured by the Khitan army. Yang Ye was outraged, and died after a three-day hunger strike to show his loyalty.

Pan Mei (925 -99 1), Han nationality, was born in daming county, Handan City, Hebei Province, and was a founding star in the Northern Song Dynasty. Father Pan Lie. Run a military school in Changshan (now Zhengding County, Hebei Province).

Pan Mei had a close relationship with Zhao Kuangyin and Song Taizu, and was reused after the Song Dynasty. He took part in quelling the rebellion in Li Zhongjin, guarding Yangzhou and Tanzhou, and moved to defense. In the third year of Kaibao (970), the whole army deployed military forces to attack and destroy the Southern Han Dynasty. Later, he participated in important battles such as Pingnan Tang, Northern Han and Yanmen, and was named Han Gong. In the third year of Yongxi (986), Yang Ye was completely annihilated because of the failure to attack Liao, and Pan Mei was chopped three times and reduced to the Pacific Ocean. The following year, the old official was reinstated. In the second year of Chunhua (99 1), he joined the Pingzhang incident and died a few months later. Wu Hui from posthumous title, to Wu Hui from posthumous title.

According to legend, the two families in Pan Yang have a great feud, and Pan Mei will want to kill Yang Ye. What is the truth?

Yang Ye and Pan Mei came together because of the need to fight against Liao. At the end of the Five Dynasties, Zhou Shizong recovered two of the sixteen states, Ying and Mo. In 979, after Song Taizong captured Taiyuan, his self-esteem increased greatly, and he was ready to take advantage of the situation to recover the rest of the states. However, due to the continuous exhaustion of military forces, when he approached Youzhou, it was already a spent force and was defeated by Liao soldiers, and the situation on the northern border was in a very unfavorable position.

Yang Ye has been dealing with the Khitan for more than 30 years, and he is experienced in marginal affairs. In order to strengthen the northern frontier defense, Song Taizong appointed him as the secretariat of Daizhou, and deployed troops stationed in Sanjiao, under the command of General Pan Mei. Pan Mei is jointly deployed by the three parties. Daizhou and Sanjiao are both in today's Shaanxi, which is the front line against Liao. Yang Ye and Pan Mei are roughly equivalent to the relationship between the frontline commander and the commander-in-chief of the frontier defense, and the relationship between the pioneer and the marshal described in the novel story is also reliable.

Song Taizong made this decision in the winter of 979. Yang Ye returned to the Song Dynasty in August, 979, and was transferred to the border defense in June,165438+1October. This winter, the weather in northern Shanxi is extremely cold, and the relationship between Pan Mei and Yang Ye is slightly chilly. One is the commander-in-chief of the frontier defense who has made great achievements, and the other is the frontline commander who has just surrendered and is eager to write a new biography of veterans. Different origins, different status and different experiences make the cooperation between the two people brilliant and full of suspense.

In 979 AD, Song Jun's failure to levy Liao prompted the Liao army to invade the south continuously, and the situation in Song Jun was very passive. Although Song Jun laid the foundation for more than half of China, he had almost no experience against the barbaric Liao army. Yang Ye's greatest advantage is that it is very familiar with the border situation. He knows everything about geography, folk customs and the enemy. Although he is an old man in his fifties, he is as brave as ever. Legend has it that the seven sons of Yangmen are brave and extraordinary. Although historical data can't confirm this, it is certain that at least two children, Yang Yanyu and Yang, often fought against Yang Ye.

It should be said that Pan Yang's initial cooperation was successful, which can be seen from the battle of Yanmenguan. Song Jun made a beautiful turnaround under the leadership of Pan Mei and Yang Ye. Yanmenguan is located in the steep cliff of Yanmen Mountain in the north of Daizhou, with winding roads and dangerous terrain, which has always been a battleground for military strategists. The Battle of Yanmenguan was probably Yang Zui's outstanding performance after the Song Dynasty.

In March 980, 100,000 Liao soldiers invaded Yanmenguan. At that time, there were only a few thousand military forces in Yang Ye, which was guarding Daizhou, and the strength of the two sides was very different. At the critical moment, the old general didn't panic. With his familiarity with the terrain and extraordinary courage, he led a small number of cavalry from Xi Zhong village in the north of Daizhou, cut to the north exit of Yanmenguan, and suddenly rushed out from behind the Liao soldiers. The Liao army never dreamed of such a wonderful trick, and at that time it was in a state of chaos. Pan Mei and Yang Ye converging on the Liao army, won a great victory, and the Liao army suffered heavy losses. Xiao Xuduo Luo was killed on the spot, and the whole army of "Ma bu" or horse stance just look went out and ordered Li Chonghai to be taken alive.

At the beginning of the Northern Song Dynasty, the Yanmenguan area was the battleground for fierce competition between Song and Liao Dynasties. The battle of Yanmenguan is of extraordinary significance to the Song Dynasty. Since 979, Song Jun's war against Liao has been decreasing. Liao soldiers invaded Hebei and Shanxi repeatedly, but Song Jun was helpless. After the First World War of Yanmenguan, Liao soldiers did not dare to attack easily, and the situation on both sides was temporarily stable.

The victory of the Battle of Yanmenguan is, of course, due to Yang Ye's bravery and resourcefulness, and also due to the close cooperation of coach Pan Mei. Otherwise, how can Ye's 100 thousand cavalry be worth Liao's 100 thousand army? It is not objective to exaggerate Yang Ye's contribution, and head coach Pan Mei also contributed. As the commander-in-chief of the Northern Han Dynasty, the battle of Yanmenguan was not only an opportunity to make a name for himself, but also an opportunity to clear his name. When the news of Yanmenguan's victory reached Kaifeng, Song Taizong was very happy. Yang Ye was promoted as the secretariat of Yunzhou (Datong), and he was still the secretariat of Yunzhou. The history of observation is five ranks, and Yang Ye is equal to promotion.

Yang Ye was a general in the Northern Han Dynasty, and to put it bluntly, he was an outsider. His rising popularity can easily arouse the special respect of North Korean ministers and customary forces. According to historical records, the commander-in-chief guarding the border was jealous of him and reported to the emperor that he spoke ill of him. Song Taizong didn't care and didn't ask questions after reading it. He just gave the throne to Yang Ye for him to see.

Who said that? I don't know anything. Presumably, Pan Mei probably reported Yang Ye. This accusation can't stand scrutiny. According to the fact analysis, the possibility of Pan Mei's informer is zero.

First, Pan Mei need not be jealous of Yang Ye. He was repeatedly praised for his border affairs, during which he was made a Lord protector. Later, he was appointed as Zhongwujun and Gonggaoligong. Yang Ye has just been promoted to the observation history of Zhengwupin, and their status is far from each other. Yang Ye can't threaten Pan Mei, so he doesn't envy Yang Ye. Moreover, Pan Mei has never denigrated the history of others in a book, and he doesn't need it. He and Yang have worked together in * * * for 67 years, and they have cooperated tacitly, handling border affairs with ease, and have repeatedly won good news. The victory of Yanmenguan is the best interpretation.

Second, Pan Mei was an important official of the two dynasties, trusted by the emperor and had a high prestige in the army. He is also Yang Ye's immediate superior. If you have any dissatisfaction with Yang Ye, just say hello directly, and you don't have to avoid the distance and disturb the emperor.

Third, if the informer is really Pan Mei, the emperor should not transfer the report to Yang Ye. Imagine that Pan Mei and Yang Ye are handsome and vice-handsome. Isn't it obvious that the emperor provoked contradictions between the two sides? In the army, disagreement between generals is a taboo. Song Taizong is an emperor, which is very wise. How can he keep the generals in cages and encourage them to kill each other when the country employs people?

Nine times out of ten, the snitches are those who are both jealous and helpless to Yang. Song Taizong forwarded the report to Yang Ye, hoping that he would correct anything and encourage him if he didn't.

To say the least, even Pan Mei's gossip is nothing. The Song Dynasty encouraged mutual exposure, and allowed "hearsay to blow people up" not necessarily based on real evidence, nor did it need to bear too much responsibility. The purpose is to strengthen supervision, so that officials are always vigilant and dare not do anything wrong. It is common for courtiers to impeach each other, and imperial envoys must give lectures once a month. If they don't correct the bullets for 100 days, they will be punished.

In this context, it is normal to bomb people or get shot, so there is no need to make a fuss. It will be sad if nobody cares for a long time. Future generations don't have to judge loyalty and treachery by impeaching others. In fact, ministers who often write and play books are often honest and loyal ministers.

As for the reason why Yang Ye's memorial has not been handed down, one may be irrelevant, and the other may be that it is not convenient to disclose state secrets. However, Yang Ye is well aware of this. Because Song Taizong sent someone to send the report to Daizhou for Yang Ye to see in person.

Song Taizong's move, of course, has brought closer the relationship with Yang Ye, enabling Yang Ye to swear allegiance to the death, but on the other hand, it has also made the contradiction between the border generals tacit. If Pan Meizhen reports Yang Ye, the contradiction between Pan Yang will be solved. However, history did not record any obvious contradiction between Pan Yang, and the writers who compiled this story also felt that Pan Yang's contradiction was calm. It seems unreasonable to assume that Pan Mei is the murderer of Yang Ye.

Yang Jiajiang's story also realized this, so it constantly pushed forward and backward the contradiction between Pan Yang and his family. According to the novels of Ming Dynasty, Pan Mei was killed by Yang's wife when the Northern Song Dynasty attacked the Northern Han Dynasty. From then on, he often thought of revenge. Liu Lanfang's storytelling added enmity such as Pan Bao, the son of Yang who split Pan Mei, and the story wrote:

With these foreshadowing, Pan Mei framed the Yang family, and the lynching became more credible. It is no longer so unprovoked, so treacherous court official was born! This also shows from another aspect that if there is no fictional story, Pan Mei really has no sufficient reason to frame Yang Ye. Pan Yang's story has been fabricated to such an extent that it has already gone beyond the historical category and belongs to artistic re-creation.
