How do Hainan people spend the solstice winter?
There is a saying in Hainan-"No chicken, no table". Every holiday, a plate of chicken is indispensable on the dining table, which is a delicious dish handed down from holiday customs. On the solstice of winter, some places in Lingshui will hold festivals. "Zuo Jie" is a common name in Hainan dialect, which means to worship ancestors at home.
Lingshui people celebrate the winter solstice, in addition to killing chickens to eat meat, some towns and villages will also "hold festivals" at home to worship their ancestors like the Spring Festival and Lantern Festival; However, some towns and villages do not have the custom of "celebrating the holidays" (such as some villages in Guangpo Town), but just have a rich reunion dinner with their families. Therefore, the custom of winter solstice in Lingshui is different, which may be due to the different festivals of Han and Li nationalities.
In Lingshui, most Han people migrated from other provinces to "Ling" (such as Fujian, Guangdong and Zhejiang) with a long history. In southern provinces such as Fujian, people like to eat jiaozi on the solstice in winter, and Han people who moved to Linglong ago also have the custom of eating jiaozi.
However, these Han people who migrated to "Ling" will do as the Romans do, and after years of baptism, they will gradually evolve into killing chickens and eating meat on holidays! In Haikou, Wenchang and other places, there is a custom of "sweeping graves" on the solstice in winter, and the theme is also to remember ancestors.
Around the winter solstice, people will go to their ancestors' graves to remove weeds, paint them with red inscriptions, and then put white meat, rice balls, tea wine, fruits, incense, candles and paper money. Their hearts are full of respect and grief for their ancestors.
Climate change in winter from solstice to solstice;
Winter solstice solar terms, due to short days and low sun height, atmospheric circulation gradually enters winter mode, the temperature gradually drops, and the weather is particularly cold.
The solstice after beginning of winter is what people often say: "Entering Nine" and "Counting Nine in Cold Weather". The so-called "counting nine" means counting from the date of winter solstice (some people say it is from winter solstice), and counting a "nine" every nine days.
And so on, count to nine, until the eighty-first day, the peach blossoms opened and the cold disappeared. Nine days is a unit, which is called "Nine". After nine nines, it happens to be 8 1 day, whether it is "nine out" or "nine out". From "September 19th" to "September 9th", the cold winter turned into a warm spring.
