Meat pigeon feed

Introduction of common feed for meat pigeons

energy feed

The feed that mainly provides energy in pigeon diet is called energy feed. Energy feed for pigeon breeding includes corn, paddy, rice, millet, wheat, sorghum and barley. Their main component is carbohydrate, and the nitrogen-free extract of this kind of feed accounts for 7 1.6 ~ 80.3% of dry matter, of which starch accounts for 82 ~ 90%, so the digestibility is very high. The crude fiber content is low, generally below 6%; The content of crude protein is generally around 10%, but the quality of protein is not high, and the amino acid composition is unbalanced. The content of tryptophan and lysine is low, and its biological value is low, generally 50 ~ 70%; Less fat, generally accounting for 2 ~ 5%; Calcium deficiency in inorganic salts is less than 0. 1%, while phosphorus content is higher than calcium, accounting for 0.3 1 ~ 0.45%, and a considerable part belongs to phytic acid which is not easily absorbed. Rich in B vitamins and vitamin E, but lacking in vitamin A and vitamin D ... This feed has good palatability and is mainly used to supplement the thermal energy needs of pigeons.

First, corn

Corn is one of the main feeds in China, which is widely available and cheap. It is easy to buy in Hangzhou, and pigeons like to eat it. This is good feed for pigeons. Corn has high energy and contains starch, but it also contains more soluble nitrogen-free extracts, less fiber and amino acids, and lacks tryptophan, lysine, cystine and nicotinic acid. The nutrition of corn is mainly to generate heat energy, so it is advisable to feed more corn in cold season. According to the feeding experience, the dosage is 40 ~ 60% in winter and 25 ~ 35% in summer. Because meat pigeons eat less in hot weather, too much corn will reduce the intake of feed in protein, leading to a decline in production. The main components of yellow corn are: metabolic energy 14 MJ/kg, water 14.8%, protein 8.6-9.4%, fat 3.9%, crude fiber 2.2%, nitrogen-free extract 68.4% and inorganic salt 1.3%. The vitamin A content of yellow corn is more than that of white corn, so cod liver oil should be supplemented when white corn is used.

Second, rice.

The metabolic energy content of rice is lower than that of corn and wheat, which is 0.7 megajoules per kilogram/kloc-0, the fat content is about 1.5%, and that of protein is about 8.3%, and the crude fiber content is higher, reaching 8.5%. Rice is also a common feed in Hangzhou, and the dosage of rice in the diet is 10 ~ 20%.

Third, brown rice.

Brown rice is also often used to feed pigeons. Its main nutrients are: water 1 1.4%, protein 8.8%, fat 1.8%, crude fiber 0.7%, nitrogen-free extract 64.7%, inorganic salt 5%, and the metabolic energy per kilogram is 14 MJ. Brown rice lacks vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin D, and its protein content is low, but it has high nutritional content, small particle size and good palatability. It is suitable for feeding all kinds of pigeons, and young pigeons are easy to eat. Mixed with corn and wheat in diet can prevent diarrhea, and the dosage is 10 ~ 20%. Brown rice is further processed into white rice, and the content of protein and B vitamins is low.

Fourth, wheat.

Wheat has high heat energy and good palatability, which pigeons like to eat. Its main components: water 10.2%, metabolic energy 12.9 MJ/kg, protein 12. 1%, fat 1.7% and crude fiber 3%; Amino acids are more perfect than other grains and contain more B vitamins. Therefore, the nutritional value of wheat is relatively high, and it is often used as the main feed for pigeons. The dosage in the diet is 10 ~ 30%. Wheat has a laxative effect, and more than 45% will have diarrhea.

Verb (abbreviation of verb) sorghum

Sorghum seeds are smaller, with slightly higher protein content, less vitamin A, about 70% starch, and less crude fiber, calcium and phosphorus. Therefore, it is more suitable for feeding pigeons, especially young pigeons aged 7 ~ 10, which is very suitable for feeding sorghum. Sorghum contains water 1 1.4%, protein 8.7%, fat 3%, crude fiber 2.3%, nitrogen-free extract 70.3% and inorganic salt 1.7%. Sorghum lacking vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin D is relatively cheap, but it has high nutritional value, but low thermal energy. The dosage should be about 15% in winter and 35 ~ 40% in summer. Its nutritional value is the same as that of corn, and it will cause constipation because of excessive eating, so it is ideal to use it with wheat. In the tank, the dosage is generally around 10%. There are two kinds of sorghum, red and white, and their nutrition is basically the same.

Six, millet

Millet has a high nutritional value, containing 14.05 MJ, crude protein 8.9%, crude fat 2.7% and crude fiber 1.3% per kilogram. Yellow millet contains more carotene, and the dosage of millet is generally 10 ~ 20%.

Seven, barley

The energy of barley is lower than that of wheat, and its metabolic energy per kilogram is11mj, crude protein is 10.8%, crude fat is 2%, and crude fiber content is relatively high, accounting for 4.7%. Barley is an excellent feed for pigeons with high nutritional value. The dosage in the diet is 10 ~ 20%.
