The weather in Yunnan in July

The weather in Yunnan is not bad ~ it is much more comfortable than Guangzhou. But as far as I know, Shangri-La is the coldest, so you'd better take more clothes. Kunming is quite hot, and so are other places. So just bring a coat. Besides, last time I went to Shangri-La, I had down for rent, so don't worry. It is said that the temperature in Kunming, the "spring city", is very comfortable. You can try crossing the bridge rice noodles and steamed chicken in Yunnan, both of which are very good.
