A FOX one day fell into a deep well and could find no means of escape. A Goat, overcome with thirst, came to the same well, and seeing the Fox, inquired if the water was good. Concealing his sad plight under a merry guise, the Fox indulged in a lavish praise of the water, saying it was excellent beyond measure, and encouraging him to descend. The Goat, mindful only of his thirst, thoughtlessly jumped down, but just as he drank, the Fox informed him of the difficulty they were both in and suggested a scheme for their common escape. "If," said he, " you will place your forefeet upon the wall and bend your head, I will run up your back and escape, and will help you out afterwards." The Goat readily assented and the Fox leaped upon his back. Steadying himself with the Goat's horns, he safely reached the mouth of the well and made off as fast as he could. When the Goat upbraided him for breaking his promise, he turned around and cried out, "You foolish old fellow! If you had as many brains in your head as you have hairs in your beard, you would never have gone down before you had inspected the way up, nor have exposed yourself to dangers from which you had no means of escape."
A fox stumbled and fell into a well. No matter how hard he struggled, he couldn't climb up and had to stay there. The male goat felt very thirsty. When he came to the well, he saw the fox under the well and asked him if the well water tasted good. The fox felt that the opportunity had come, and was secretly happy. He immediately calmed down and praised the well water for drinking. The water is the best spring in the world, sweet and refreshing, and he persuades the goat to come down quickly and drink with him. He just wanted to drink water and believed it to be a real goat, so he jumped down without thinking. After he finished drinking, he had to discuss with the fox how to get to the well. The fox was well prepared. He said cunningly: "I have a way." You put your front feet on the wall of the well and straighten the corners. I will jump up from your back into the well and pull you up again. Then we will all be saved. ?The billy goat agreed to his proposal, and the fox stepped on his hind feet, jumped on his back, and then jumped out of the well mouth with a powerful jump from its horns. After the fox went up, he was ready to escape alone. The billy goat accused the fox of not keeping his promise. The fox turned back to the billy goat and said: "Hey, friend, if your mind was as perfect as your beard, you wouldn't jump blindly before seeing the exit clearly." ?
This story shows that smart people should consider the consequences of things in advance before doing it.

?I?am stronger than you ?,the North Wind said to the Sun .?I can blow the roofs off houses .I can make typhoons and huge waves on the sea .?
?No ,?said the Sun quietly ,?I?am stronger than you .I can melt ice and snow .I make the trees blossom and the flowers bloom. ?
A man came walking along ,wearing a big coat .

Persuasion is better than force .(Facts speak louder than words) Elementary school simple English short stories Part 3
My sister was fond of traveling. Ever since graduating, she had been determined to organize a trip to an old temple. Since transporting fare was expensive, she decided to use a bicycle to cycle there not caring about the disadvantages. Her stubborn attitude was always her shortcoming. Once she made up her mind to do something, no one could persuade her to change her mind. Finally, we gave in as usual though we preferred to take a train. After we prepared everything, including the schedule, reliable weather forecast and the insurance, we began our trip.
My sister likes to travel. Ever since she graduated, she had been determined to organize a trip to an ancient temple. Since transportation was expensive, she decided to go by bicycle without worrying about the disadvantages. Stubborn attitude has always been her flaw, and once she makes up her mind about something, no one can convince her to change her mind. In the end, we gave in as usual, even though we would have preferred to go by train. We got everything ready, including a timetable, a reliable weather forecast, and insurance, and started the journey.
Our journey was along a river flowing from a high altitude. Our pace was slow because the river frequently had many sharp bends through deep valleys, where the water seemed to boil. Just as I recorded in my journal, it was really a hard journey. But we also enjoyed great views. One night, I put my head on my pillow--a parcel of wool coats, and lay beneath the stars. When the flame in front of our cave went out at midnight , I found the sky so beautiful!
