The legend of the Taj Mahal

The "inverted child" made the old father dream of it.

According to historical records, the Makbala Mausoleum was built in 1679, only 25 years away from the Taj Mahal. The man who built the mausoleum was an emperor who was constantly reviled in Indian history and an unfilial son, which made the dreams of the two protagonists of the Taj Mahal impossible to realize. As we all know, the Taj Mahal was built by Mughal emperor Sha Jiahan in memory of his beloved Princess Taj Mahal. It cost tens of millions of rupees and took 22 years. During aurangzeb's 49-year reign, the brutal rule led to constant wars throughout the country, and the once powerful empire went into decline. After temporarily moving the capital to Orangabad, aurangzeb plans to build a mausoleum for his dead wife. Although the "rebel" was unfilial, he still admired the Taj Mahal built by his father for his mother, but the dynasty was unable to undertake the huge project of the second Taj Mahal, so aurangzeb ordered that the mausoleum should be roughly like the Taj Mahal, and all materials should be simple. Although the construction period of the "Little Taj Mahal" is only six years, the engineering quantity is still huge. A French missionary recorded in his travels in India that he witnessed the scene of 300 ox carts carrying marble slabs to the cemetery.

Avoid a disaster

After aurangzeb's death, the control scope of the Mughal dynasty has been shrinking. Similar to the fate of the decline of the dynasty, the "Little Taj Mahal" has also experienced many ups and downs. 1803, the Grand Duke of Hyderabad in southern India annexed Orangabad, took a fancy to the "Little Taj Mahal" and ordered all the mausoleums to be demolished and transported to Hyderabad for reconstruction. Before the construction began, many prophets warned that if the building was destroyed, it would anger God and be punished. In a panic, Dagong stopped, and the "Little Taj Mahal" escaped the disaster of "big unloading and eight pieces".

For the next eight years, Sha Jiahan could only look at the reflection of the Taj Mahal floating in the distant river through the small window every day until he died.

The Taj Mahal was born of love, and this life of love was continued by future generations because of its brilliance. Locals always say that although two dark red mosques have stood tall on both sides of the Taj Mahal for more than 300 years, even though there are always thousands of tourists from all over the world every day, the Taj Mahal is still lonely, just like a peerless beauty waiting for her lover to return by the gurgling Jumuna River.
