Where will it affect?

According to the monitoring data, today (25th) 1 1, the Central Meteorological Observatory upgraded Bawei to a 42m/s strong typhoon (14).

In the next 24 hours, "Bawei" will still be in a state of high SST and weak vertical shear, which will help the strength to continue to increase. It will probably surpass Typhoon Wasp (45 m/s) and become the strongest typhoon in the northwest Pacific since this year (2020).

It is expected that Bawei will enter the southern part of the Yellow Sea on the 26th, and then move to the northwest of the Korean Peninsula and the coastal area of Shandong Peninsula in China.

The Central Meteorological Observatory warned that there will be 6-7 strong winds in the east of Taiwan Province Province, most of the East China Sea, the waters near Diaoyu Island, the eastern and northern coasts of Taiwan Province Province, the northern coast of Fujian and the coastal areas of Zhejiang from 0: 00 on 23rd to 0: 00 on 24th. How is a typhoon named?

There are typhoons in summer and autumn every year, such as Bawei, Higos, Mikla and so on this year. So how did these typhoons get their names? Before the international rules of typhoon naming were issued, different countries and regions had different names for the same typhoon.

In order to avoid confusion of names, the Typhoon Committee of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) held its 30th meeting in 1997, and decided to adopt a unified naming system for tropical cyclones (typhoons) in the northwest Pacific Ocean and the South China Sea from 2000.

There are 140 names in the naming list, which are provided by 14 member countries and regions of the Typhoon Committee co-chaired by the World Meteorological Organization and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, and each country or region provides 10 names respectively.

In this way, typhoons have a list of 14 10.

The table is arranged in alphabetical order according to the English name of each member. When the typhoon comes, it will be used in turn according to the names in the table.
