Qi is a first-class Chinese word, pronounced qi. This word was first seen in Oracle Bone Inscriptions in Shang Dynasty? Its ancient glyph simulates the appearance of clouds and gases. The inscriptions on bronze in the Western Zhou Dynasty (Group A, Figure 2) followed the form of Oracle Bone Inscriptions. During the Warring States Period (Group A, Figure 4-6), the lower part was bent horizontally, and two variants appeared at the same time, which changed the word "Qi" from big, gas sound and fire sound into pictophonetic characters. The characters in the Qin dynasty basically followed the writing style of "Qi" in the Warring States period. After the Han dynasty, the writing form has hardly changed. ?

"Gas" was later extended to refer to all gases, such as air, fog, oxygen and water vapor. Breathing is the most basic activity to maintain human survival. It inhales fresh air and exhales foul air in the body, so "qi" also refers to breath, such as "qi" in words such as "panting" and "flustered".

The water vapor on the ground evaporates and rises to form clouds. The gathering of clouds and gas reduces the rain on which everything depends, and sometimes the gentle and violent wind keeps breathing. We can't feel the change and flow of gas everywhere. It's cold, but the air is getting cold. The flow of qi brings the fragrance of flowers and plants in the distance, so "qi" also extends the meaning of weather, climate and smell.
