Baigou, a famous commercial town in northern China, is a sub-county town under the jurisdiction of Gaobeidian City, Hebei Province. On September 10, Baigou New City was formally established in Baoding City, Hebei Province, and its jurisdiction includes Baiyangdian Hot Spring City Industrial Cluster (under Xiongxian County) and the whole territory of Baigou Town (under Gaobeidian City).

Political leadership and administrative management are entrusted to Baoding Municipal People's Government and its agency Baigou New Town, and the administrative division remains unchanged in Gaobeidian City. Located in the hinterland of the Beijing-Tianjin-Baoding Triangle, at the junction of Gaobeidian, Xiongxian, Rongcheng and Dingxing, it is 62km away from Beijing 102km in the north, Tianjin 100km in the east and Baoding in the south.

Baigou River runs through the north and south from the center of Gaobeidian, and South Juma River flows along the southwest border. The Ziquan River, Cangshang River, Langou River, Doumen River and Liangyun River converge from north to south and pour into Baiyangdian Lake through the inverted siphon of Juma River. Lusheng River and Dashagou flow into Xiong, Gu and Ba water systems from north to south.

2. Location and background

Gaobeidian City is located in the middle of Hebei Province and southwest of Beijing. Its geographical coordinates are: east longitude115 47' 24 "~1612' 40", and north latitude 39 5' 53 "~ 39 23'. The total area of this city is 672 square kilometers. Gaobeidian, located in the hinterland of the Beijing-Tianjin-Baoding Triangle, is an important industrial city in the south of Beijing and the north of Baoding.

3. Terrain

The western part of Gaobeidian City is Taihang Mountain flood alluvial plain, and the eastern part is river alluvial plain. The terrain gently slopes from northwest to southeast, with an average slope of 0.6‰ and an altitude of 1 1.4 to 39.4 meters, forming a flat plain landform.

4. Climate

Gaobeidian belongs to temperate continental monsoon climate, with frost-free period 183 days, annual average temperature 12.4℃ and annual average precipitation of 600 mm. Winter is controlled by winter wind system for half a year, which is cold and dry, with little snowfall, dry and windy in spring, and the temperature rises rapidly.

It is hot and rainy in summer, and the flood season in Gaobeidian is from June to August. The average annual precipitation in summer in Gaobeidian is 332.0mm, accounting for 67% of the whole year. The late July and early August are the main flood seasons, commonly known as "seven rains and eight highs". Autumn is crisp, but there are many rainy days.
