Is it cold in winter in Durham, England?

I think winter in England is very cold and the weather changes quickly. It usually snows, and the scenery is particularly beautiful after snow, but walking is not very good, and the snow is still thick. Last year, my friend went to Durham University for postgraduate study through UKEC British Education Center. Many photos in winter are snow scenes.
