How is the strong convective weather formed?

Strong convective weather is formed by unstable atmospheric conditions, sufficient water vapor supply and trigger mechanism.

1. Unstable atmospheric conditions: The change rate of temperature in the atmosphere with height is greater than that under standard atmospheric conditions, thus forming unstable temperature stratification. This stratification makes the air in the lower atmosphere easy to be heated and produce upward movement.

2. Adequate water vapor supply: Water vapor is one of the important energy sources of convection, and only sufficient water vapor can provide enough latent heat to strengthen the updraft.

3. Trigger mechanism: convection needs a trigger mechanism to start, such as cold front, warm front, mountain uplift and other topography, which can produce local updraft, thus triggering a stronger convection process.
