Details of approximate theft of Nanmu in Lagou Township

Nanning, July 4 (Reporter Li Bin) The reporter learned from the Forest Public Security Bureau of Liuzhou City, Guangxi that the theft of Phoebe bournei (a kind of national second-class protected plant Phoebe bournei) in Lagou Nature Reserve of Luzhai County, Guangxi Province in March this year was solved a few days ago. The police have arrested three suspects and four others are still in pursuit.

On March 19 this year, a Phoebe bournei tree with a diameter of 1.5m and a tree age of more than 700 years was cut down. Because this is the largest nanmu found by local villagers, it is called the "Nanmu King", and the illegal logging incident caused dissatisfaction among local villagers. This case was subsequently listed as a particularly illegal logging case of rare and endangered plants under the supervision of the autonomous region.

Liuzhou Forest Public Security Bureau dispatched elite troops to form a task force and conducted an investigation in Luzhai County for more than a month. By visiting the local people and checking the crime scene, the police locked the suspect. In late June, the police arrested three suspects.

After the trial, the suspect Yang said that there were 7 people involved in the theft of "Nanmu King". Because of lack of money, they discussed "making some money". Later, Yang proposed to illegally cut down big trees. After stepping on the spot, they finally locked in the "Nanmu King".

At present, three suspects have been criminally detained.
