Introduction of Fengyun-2 Meteorological Satellite

Fengyun-2 meteorological satellite (FY-2) is the first generation geosynchronous orbit meteorological satellite developed in China, which is complementary to polar orbit meteorological satellite and forms the application system of meteorological satellite in China. Fengyun-2 satellite is composed of two experimental satellites (Fengyun -2A satellite and Fengyun -2B satellite) and four operational satellites (Fengyun -2C satellite, Fengyun -2D satellite, Fengyun -2E satellite and Fengyun -2F satellite). Its functions are to obtain visible light cloud pictures, day and night infrared cloud pictures and water vapor distribution maps, fax weather maps, and collect meteorological monitoring data from meteorological, hydrological and marine data collection platforms at home and abroad.
