Is litchi a native crop in China?

Litchi is a native crop in China.

Litchi is a native fruit in China. Produced in southern China, it has been cultivated and eaten for more than 2,000 years. Litchi, a cultivated fruit tree, is produced in subtropical areas and distributed in Fujian, Taiwan Province, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan and other places.

In 20 17 years, the planting area of litchi in Guangdong province was 4 1 1 10,000 mu, and the output was 13 1 10,000 tons, accounting for more than 50% of the whole country. The planting area of litchi in Maoming is 6.5438+0.39 million mu, and the output is 528,000 tons, accounting for two-fifths of that in Guangdong and one-quarter of that in China. It is the largest litchi production base in the world.

Litchi trees like high temperature and humidity and sunshine. Its heredity requires that the temperature of flower bud differentiation is relatively low, but the lowest temperature is -2 ~-4℃, so they will suffer from freezing injury. It is sunny and warm in flowering period, and no dry heat is the most favorable. Too low humidity, continuous rain, dry and hot weather or strong north wind are not conducive to flowering and pollination. Unfavorable disaster weather in the flower and fruit period will lead to falling flowers and fruits, and even loss of harvest.

Litchi planting method

1, seed selection and seed soaking

When planting litchi, we should choose a variety with large nucleolus, then wash the pulp with clear water and soak it in warm water for one day and one night to soften the seeds and improve the germination rate. Pay attention to changing water constantly during soaking.

2. Accelerating germination

Lay litchi seeds flat on wet sand, and then cover them with a layer of straw to keep warm and moist. In the later stage, the seeds should be watered continuously, and the germination status of radicles should be checked in time. If the radicle is exposed, you can sow it.

3. Sowing method

After the plot is deeply ploughed, base fertilizer is applied, then planting holes are dug according to the plant spacing of 30 cm, and then the treated litchi seeds are planted in the holes, each hole is 1-2, covered with a thin layer of soil, and the seedlings can be transplanted when they grow to 30-50 cm.

4, transplanting maintenance

When transplanting litchi, you should choose a plot with sunny lee, fertile soil and convenient irrigation and drainage. After the litchi seedlings are dug out, they should be moved into the soil according to the plant spacing of 2 meters, then the root water should be poured to keep the soil moist, and attention should be paid to the prevention and control of frost blight and algae spot disease in the later stage.
