Tehran is geographically remote. Why did Iran choose it as its capital?

Tehran is currently the largest city in Iran, with a large population, a high degree of modernization and a long history. As early as the 9th century, Tehran was a very ordinary small village, and its popularity was not high. But after the Mongols destroyed Rai, many people fled to Tehran for refuge. Perhaps only in this case will people want to go to a remote place. They moved the capital frequently in Iranian history, and finally decided to set the capital in Tehran, which is puzzling. How was Tehran elected?

It stands to reason that although the capital does not need to be in the middle of the country, it will choose fertile land or a strategic center, and this remote Tehran is really a bit temperament.

It has a long history and moved the capital 32 times.

Like China's long history, Iran has gone through a long period of time. From BC to AD, from modern times to modern times, the territory of Iran has changed many times in the turbulent historical track, a dynasty has risen and subverted, and a city has been born and annihilated. It was in this regime change that Iran moved its capital 32 times.

As early as around 3200 BC, human civilization appeared in this rugged land. A country called Elam was established near the Tigris River. Its capital is also near the water source-Susa. This place is close to the river, with relatively flat terrain, and is a suitable capital.

In the years of struggle with neighboring countries, it was overthrown by Assyria, the city-state. But before it was completely destroyed, around 678 BC, a country called Miti rose. Midi, with Ekplatana as its capital, did not exist for long. Compared with Elam, which has experienced thousands of years, it only existed for more than a hundred years.

It was the Persian tribe that overthrew it. In 550 BC, the Persian Empire was established, with Persepolis in the southwest as its capital. History is progressing steadily, and the Persian Empire is also developing gradually, until the Persian battlefield broke out and the Persian Empire went downhill. Around 330 BC, Persia was annihilated by the army of the Kingdom of Macedonia, and the Hellenistic era came. The capital of Macedonia, like its sphere of influence, has undergone several changes, first in Virginia, then in Pella, and finally in Babylon.

In 247 BC, the rest dynasty was established. Its capital is a city called Taixi Peak near the Tigris River. By AD 224, the Sabbath Dynasty was destroyed, and the Sassanian Dynasty was established, with Taixifeng as its capital. In this way, more than 400 years have passed, the Arab Empire invaded, and the Sassanian Dynasty disappeared in the long river of history. Medina, Damascus and Baghdad have all become the capitals of the Arab Empire.

In 874 AD, the Shaman family established the Shaman Dynasty, with Bukhara and Balkh as its capital. In 999, the shaman dynasty with a huge territory was overthrown by the Gasseini dynasty, a small country in China. The land of Iran ushered in the Turkic dynasty. More than 200 years later, Genghis Khan sent troops here, and his second son established the State of ilhan here. Misha, Soltanieh and Tabrizi all served as capitals.

In A.D. 1380, the State of ilhan was captured by Turks, and the Timur dynasty with Samarkand as its capital was established. Less than a hundred years later, it gradually declined, and two new forces, the black sheep dynasty and the white sheep dynasty, appeared successively. The capital of the former is Herat, and the capital of the latter is Tabrizi and Dia Bourcq successively.

In 150 1 year, the Aries dynasty was in turmoil and the safi dynasty was established. This dynasty also had several capitals, namely Tabrizi, Ghazwin and Isfahan. More than 200 years later, the Turkic tribes in northeastern Iran invaded and the Afshar dynasty was established. The Afshar dynasty with Mashhad as its capital expanded outward and expanded its sphere of influence. At the same time, however, the royal family in the dynasty was constantly fighting and there was no peace.

In A.D. 1779, King Jia Kai took the opportunity to establish it, with Tehran as its capital. Since then, the Pahlavi dynasty and today's Islamic Republic of Iran have always taken Tehran as their capital.

So why is Tehran the capital? And why has the capital remained unchanged after so many years of dynasty changes?

Successful "upper position"

Before it became the capital, Tehran was always a "remote mountain village" with a population of just over 20,000 and its economy was not very prosperous. So, why did King Jia Kai build his capital here? In fact, it was the first emperor of Jia Kai's dynasty who took a fancy to the geographical position here and set up camp here.

It is very close to the northern part of Iran, the core sphere of influence of King Jakai, and can radiate to other parts of Iran. For the emperor who has just reached the top, this place is blessed.

The capital was originally established here for political reasons, but after the capital was established here, the ruling class and newcomers here gradually found that the climate here is much better than other parts of Iran. Although it is dry and hot, it is not very good compared with the drier and hotter places around. This is also one of the reasons why the regime did not move the capital later.

New problems

Although Tehran has certain advantages in climate, there are also extreme weather such as high fever and blizzard. Not only that, Tehran, a remote place, happens to be located in the earthquake zone and is in danger of an earthquake at any time.

More importantly, although the capital Tehran is developing in all aspects and gradually becoming a modern city, there are also various urban problems. A large number of migrants have flooded into small areas, followed by a series of problems such as traffic congestion, crowded housing, environmental degradation and air pollution. Tehran, a small place, is in urgent need of renovation. The voice of moving the capital is also gradually rising.

However, although the government has plans to move the capital, it does not have enough funds. Moreover, Tehran today is no longer a small village that can be "abandoned" casually. This is the political center of Iran, where many large enterprises and cultural institutions are located. People still have deep cultural feelings for it. It is almost impossible to move at once. Therefore, we have to "stay here for the time being" first, and then think about it slowly.

Behind this plan to move the capital is also full of helplessness.
