How is the rime formed?

Rime, commonly known as tree hanging, is also called ice flower. It was frozen by fog and steam. Generally, it can be divided into two categories: one is granular and snowflake-like overlapping frozen objects, which are produced by water droplets and fog droplets moving with the wind and freezing rapidly when they meet cold; The other is crystalline, which is a crystalline frozen thing like frost flowers. It is caused by the cold weather, which makes the air humidity supersaturated and the water vapor condenses directly.

Jilin rime belongs to the latter crystal structure and is naturally formed in the specific geographical environment of Jilin City. Jilin City is surrounded by mountains and water on three sides. Located in the basin, the evaporated water vapor in the river is not easy to dissipate. These are all favorable conditions for the formation of rime.

Rime can be seen in the northeast and northwest of China with high latitude, as well as in places with low latitude, high terrain and good water vapor conditions. In the cold winter, it is not only a beautiful natural landscape, but also can purify the air, eliminate pollution and protect people's health.

Rime in Jilin is a physical phenomenon in the atmosphere. It doesn't fall from the sky like rain and snow, but belongs to ground condensation such as dew and frost. Because the structure is loose, the wind will fall if it is a little stronger or shaken. If it doesn't fall off, the sun will melt when it comes out that day. In the cold of dying trees, the frozen honeysuckle can give people a wonderful enjoyment, although it has no gorgeous colors and intoxicating fragrance. It can not only bring people unlimited interest, but also forecast the weather and the year! Meteorological proverbs such as "Three days a day is sunny", "Many trees hang in winter, but it is hot in summer" and "There are trees hanging in the middle of winter, and next year is a bumper harvest year" are the summary of many years' experience.

In the dead of winter, there seems to be "steam" evaporating on the frozen river. This is because there is a Songhua Lake in the upper reaches of Songhua River, which is 0/5 km away from Jiangcheng Jilin/Kloc-,and the Xiaofengman Hydropower Station, an important power hub in Northeast China, is built here. The turbulent Songjiang water flows into the power station under the ice layer more than one meter thick. When it passes through the generator set, it becomes a warm current after being impacted by the water wheel and blades, and flows out from the dam dozens of meters high from the river surface. The river surface from Xiaofengman Hydropower Station to Jiuzhan Station in the northern suburb of Jilin City does not freeze on the "March 9th" day. Due to the cold weather in winter, the difference between water temperature and air temperature increases, which makes water vapor evaporate from the river surface continuously. When the water vapor meets the cold branches on the shore and suddenly condenses into ice crystals, there is a strange and spectacular Jilin rime.
