The establishment of Tancheng began in Tan State.

The situation first belonged to Xue County, then to Donghai County, and there was a short period between Chu and Han, also known as Tan County.

The two faults on the east side of the fault zone, Changyi-Dadian fault and Anqiu-Junan fault, are clear and obvious. The two faults in the west, Tangqiao-Gegou fault and Yishui-Tangtou fault, are concealed under the Quaternary overburden and extend to the southwest.

These four faults basically run through the county in parallel, forming a large NNE structural belt.
