Why is Xinglong Mountain in Yuzhong tree-lined?

The mountain range of Xinglong Mountain Nature Reserve is the east extension of Qilian Mountain System, which consists of the high mountains and Zhongshan Mountain in Ma Xian Mountain System. The main mountain ranges are Maxian Mountain, Xinglong Mountain and Yun Qi Mountain. The nature reserve is located in the East Asian continent, which is divided into the eastern monsoon region according to the national natural zoning climate. The continental climate is remarkable, belonging to a cold, semi-humid and rainy climate. The main features are four distinct seasons, with water and heat in the same season. Spring is dry and windy; It is hot in summer, cool at night, dry in early summer and rainy in midsummer. There is more rain in early autumn, and it is cool and rainy in late autumn; It is cold and snowy in winter. The annual average temperature is 3-7℃, with the highest (July) being 13- 18℃ and the lowest (June) being -8-9℃. The active accumulated temperature is1800-2800℃; The annual precipitation is 450-622 mm, the effective precipitation is 340-520 mm, and the precipitation frequency is uneven, mostly concentrated in July, August and September, and the precipitation accounts for about 55% of the annual precipitation. Under the effect of artificial precipitation enhancement in mountainous areas, the precipitation increases by about 27mm for every increase of 100m. The annual precipitation of the main peak in Ma Xian can reach 800 mm; ; The frost-free period is 70- 130 days with an average of 103 days. The annual average temperature in the forest area is 4.65438 0℃; The average rainfall is 621.6mm; ; The average evaporation is 9 18.6mm, which is 1.5 times of annual precipitation. Relative humidity 68%, ⊙ 10℃ accumulated temperature1577.5℃; The average frost-free period is about 1 10 days; The dryness is 0.65; The average frozen soil depth is 120cm, and the extreme maximum is 150cm. The main disastrous weather is drought.

The soil in the reserve is mainly gray cinnamon soil developed in rocky mountainous areas, in addition to alpine meadow soil, subalpine meadow soil, chestnut soil and newly accumulated soil. There is no complete distribution zone, which is often due to the relationship between slope direction and zonal soil composite area. Because of the higher terrain, more precipitation, lower temperature, weaker evaporation and larger vegetation coverage, the soil on the hillside in the canyon is mainly grayish brown. Due to the different topography and slope direction, the climate and plants change, forming different leached gray cinnamon soil. The zonal soil of shady forest land is leached gray cinnamon soil. The soil-forming parent materials are mainly phyllite, basalt, glutenite, volcanic rocks and other residues, slope deposits and loess materials. Generally, the fertility is high, and the organic matter content is 1.63%, but the soil layer is shallow. The zonal soil of secondary forest land and shrub land on the sunny slope is carbonate leaching gray cinnamon soil. Soil-forming parent material is the same as shady slope, but because of its large slope, good drainage, abundant sunshine and rapid evaporation, carbonate reaction is strong, mostly alkaline, low organic matter content and poor fertility. In the area above 3000 meters above sea level, due to the high air humidity and low temperature, the vegetation is mainly shrubs and herbs, and the soil changes from subalpine meadow soil to alpine meadow soil. The gentle slopes on the east and west sides of the valleys in Qian Shan belong to chestnut soil developed on loess parent material, with thick loess layer, sparse vegetation, large evaporation, dry soil, low organic matter content, loose soil, good water permeability, deep soil layer but poor fertility. The PH value is 8, which shows a strong lime reaction. The nature reserve is rich in biological resources, with identified macrofungi 109 species and higher plants 1022 species. Spiders and insects 1 135 species, higher animals 160 species. They are the renewable resources of nature reserves and the main body of complex ecosystem. The nature reserve used to be a Taoist shrine, and there are many scenic spots for tourists to visit. Like the main body of complex ecosystem, they should be protected and rationally developed and utilized.
