For example, on May 14, 2008, heavy rain fell in Mianzhu County, and Qingping Township, Tianchi Township, and Jinhua Town near the Longmen Mountains were in danger of flash floods at any time.

Yushu: Most of the buildings are civil structures. After the strong earthquake in Yushu County, almost all the civil structure houses collapsed.

Wenchuan: Most of the buildings are masonry structures. The earthquake caused the collapse of 7 schools, including two kindergartens, in Mianzhu City, Sichuan, and 1,700 people were buried. A large number of schools collapsed in other disaster-stricken areas.
