The real Huai-Hai War: National soldiers crawled over for dinner.

Huaihai Campaign: Huaihai Campaign started from1948165438+10.6 and ended at1949 65438+/kloc-0.0. It went through three stages and lasted for 66 days. Our army annihilated the advance headquarters of the Kuomintang army's Xuzhou suppression headquarters, 5 corps headquarters, 20 armies, another appeasement area and another division of its two armies uprising, and one division surrendered, totaling 55. Over 50,000 people.

The great victory of the Huaihai Campaign was a magnificent victory song jointly written by our two field armies in East China and Central Plains under the command of the Central Military Commission and the General Front Committee. In this Armageddon, as a reporter of Xinhua News Agency of East China Field Army, my experience of interviewing at the front line is vivid.

At that time, the seventh column of the East China Field Army where I was located successfully completed all the combat tasks in the first stage of the campaign, including cooperating with friends and neighbors to quickly cut off the road for the Yellow Corps to retreat to Xuzhou, and then stubbornly blocked Qiu Qingquan and the Corps' eastward assistance, ensuring the total annihilation of the Yellow Corps on the eastern front of China. 1October 26th, 165438+ Under the command of Colonel Hua Ye, he took the lead in advancing to the southbound line to cooperate with Nakano's attack.

At this point, Huang Wei Corps has been tightly surrounded by our Nakano in a narrow area about 5 kilometers southwest of Suxian County, centering on Shuangduiji. On the evening of February 3, 65438, he arrived in the south of Shuangduiji and took over some positions in Nakano. On that day, Hua Ye 13 also took part in the position of Nakano, being my vertical left neighbor and my right neighbor being the 6 vertical neighbors of Nakano.

At that time, I was sent by Comrade Ai Xuan, president of Hua Ye Seven Xinhua Branch, and came to the 56th regiment of the 19th Division for an interview. The frontal enemy of the 56th Regiment is the 23rd Division of the 85th Army, stationed in Xiaowangzhuang, Xiaozhouzhuang and Xiaomazhuang villages. After the heavy artillery bombardment of our army on February 6, 65438, most of the enemy fortifications were destroyed, resulting in heavy casualties. Then our 56th Regiment cooperated with the Brothers Regiment to continuously attack the enemy. Destroy nearly one regiment in one day and capture more than 600 people below the deputy head of the enemy.

In the face of our powerful offensive, the enemy's morale was shaken and low. This is a good opportunity for our army to launch a political offensive against the enemy. One day, Wang He, director of the Propaganda Department of the Political Department of the Communist Youth League, went to 1 camp to organize a political offensive against the enemy, and I accompanied him.

Comrade Wang He is from Wuxi. He is so elegant that he doesn't spend time talking or doing things. A few days ago, he and I came to 1 Battalion 3 Company to replace the trenches in Nakano, only to see the trenches criss-crossing, dense as cobwebs, extending in all directions. It is wide enough for two people to pass side by side and deep enough for people to walk around without bending over. Walking along the ditch, you can see obvious road signs at every fork in the road. The arrow will guide you where you want to go. On both sides of the trench, there is a bunker and bomb shelter for a group of people every few meters. In front of a bigger bunker, the word "club" is marked, and some slogans and cartoons are posted inside, and several musical instruments are also placed. Every class has a toilet and a place to throw garbage. Trenches are clean. I have never seen such a trench. It feels fresh. It's the first time to fight and live in such a frontier. Some have repeatedly praised Brother Nakano's fine style.

How did Nakano complete such a huge earthwork in the face of the enemy's constant attacks and freezing weather? How hard does it take? This can be answered by the description of Nakano reporter Lv Liang:

At night, machine guns are used to block enemy artillery positions. The troops rushed forward at a distance of five steps per person, fell down in front of the enemy positions, quickly dug into horizontal fortifications, went deep into kneeling positions, and finally dug into chest-high longitudinal positions. Then we try to dig forward, work in pairs and communicate with each other. Overnight, a traffic ditch of several hundred meters was dug out. The whole project is 20 miles long. After our army took over these trenches in Hua Ye,

1 Battalion's political offensive against the enemy is in full swing and colorful. Some soldiers, with megaphones made of iron, kept shouting at the enemy, sometimes singing minor tunes. The enemy's 23rd Division and 10 Division belong to the 85th Army. 10 division commander Liao Yunzhou led the uprising, and this righteous act became the main content of the soldiers' propaganda to the officers and men of the 23rd division, and they preached it repeatedly. The enemy in the encirclement is short of food and water, and the enemy soldiers often climb to our position to eat and drink. At that time, with the full support of Long Yingyun, the people in the old area of Shandong, Jiangsu, Henan and Anhui, the food of our army was better than ever, and officers and men could eat white-flour steamed bread, braised pork or meat buns almost every day. Whenever the cook served steaming meals, the soldiers tinkled the enamel rice bowls and shouted at the enemy positions: Eat, today is meat buns, come and control your satiety! In the trenches, we saw some enemy soldiers crawling over to ask for steamed bread. After they wolfed down their food and drinks, they would take some steamed buns home. All kinds of propaganda materials and surrender books brought by Wang He from the regimental headquarters were also snatched back by these enemy soldiers.

The continuous political offensive shows great power, and there are constantly enemy officers and men giving up darkness and turning to light. According to them, the 23rd Division was arranged in several small villages in front of the 18 Army, one of Chiang Kai-shek's five main forces, as a shield for the 18 Army. Due to the overlapping positions, the upper and lower divisions lost contact, and all the calls between the 23rd Division and the headquarters of the military region had to be transferred by 18 Army. People have to get permission from the heavily guarded 18 army to get in and out, and they are actually under surveillance. The air contact station of the 23rd Division was banned, which made it impossible for them to contact the plane sent by Nanjing. So one day, even their positions were bombed and strafed, and Chen Naiguang, deputy head of the 67th regiment, was killed. They are short of food and ammunition. At first, they had no food, but they could kill the charger to satisfy their hunger. Later, they gradually fell into a desperate situation of hunger, and they could only look up at the sky and look forward to the airdrop. But they often can't get China's version of the airdrops.

On the Huai-Hai front, as long as the weather is fine, enemy planes will fly from the south. Among them, the gray transport plane with a big belly threw ammunition and food at the encirclement. Because the encirclement is narrow, it sometimes falls on our position. The bombers strafed at our position and threw bombs, causing harassment. However, at this moment, no matter whether the enemy plane is airdropped or harassed, it will not change the fate of the collapse of Huang Wei Corps.
