What is a convergence zone?
The area where the air pressure is the lowest and the airflow meets between the two subtropical highs in the northern and southern hemispheres is called intertropical convergence zone, which is a major and continuous large-scale weather system in the tropical region, and sometimes it can even circle the earth. Its movement and intensity changes have great influence on the long, medium and short-term weather changes in tropical areas. Generally, there are two types: windless zone and trade zone. Most tropical cyclones (typhoons) are produced in the convergence zone.
