? The main honey sources in Yongzhou in summer are Sapium sebiferum and Ligustrum lucidum, and the flowering period of these two honey sources is from May to June. After these two kinds of nectar plants, autumn honey can not be produced until the end of September to 10 when a gallnut blooms.

? Therefore, July-August in Yongzhou is a honey shortage period. During this period, it coincides with the summer drought season, the weather is hot, and the temperature can sometimes reach nearly 34 degrees. This period is the most critical period of bee management in Yongzhou area in a year. A little negligence and poor management will lead to the weakness of bees and even lead to the bees flying away. So how to manage the bee colony at this time?

? I think we should love beauty, shade the sun, balance the group potential, and humidify and cool down.

Wang Zu: The change of queen should be completed before the summer as far as possible. During the summer, the number of new queen bees should reach 80%. Be sure to leave enough honey before summer, and you can see the honey sealed by the spleen on the edge of the hive.

? Sun protection: try to move the bee farm to a shady forest, and don't put the hive in the sun, so that the air circulation of the bee farm is better.

? Balance colony potential: The stronger the bee colony is, the stronger the ability of the bee colony to self-adjust the temperature and humidity in the hive. Therefore, before the arrival of summer, some weak bees can merge into a large group.

? Humidification and cooling: when the temperature is high at noon, you can use artificial water to cool down, or you can wet the hive with water and cover it with cloth to humidify and cool down.

In addition, attention should be paid to using observation outside the box as much as possible in midsummer season to understand the production and living conditions of bees in the box, reduce observation inside the box and prevent bees from being stolen. At the same time, when the temperature is high in summer, it is the period when nesting insects develop rapidly. At this time, attention should be paid to controlling nesting insects from damaging the spleen.
