Classification of RV air conditioning
RV air conditioners can be roughly divided into two categories: driving air conditioners and parking air conditioners, which can be distinguished by their names. One is used while the RV is driving, and the other is used after arriving at the campsite.
It is generally used for self-propelled RV, that is, the air conditioner that comes with the chassis part is used in the driving process of the vehicle. Generally, the engine needs to provide power directly during driving, and the use method is the same as that of the air conditioner of ordinary family cars.
If you can't use the driving air conditioner for a long time when you are parked, it will lead to excessive carbon monoxide concentration in the car and suffocation. In addition, the driving air conditioner has poor refrigeration effect at idle speed. When the cockpit is connected to the residential area, the original car factory will generally be equipped with a "rear air conditioner evaporator" to better ensure the cooling effect.
As the name implies, it is the air conditioner with stable power supply after the RV arrives at the destination and stops. According to the different installation positions, it can be divided into overhead air conditioning and bottom air conditioning; According to the function, it can be divided into cold and warm air conditioning and single refrigeration air conditioning; According to the type of air conditioning, it can be divided into household air conditioning and RV special air conditioning; According to the power supply type, it can be divided into 12V, 24V and 220V air conditioners.
Advantages and disadvantages of various parking air conditioners
Overhead air conditioning is easier to replace and maintain than bottom air conditioning, and its cost is lower. Generally, the external machine is installed outside the car and the internal machine is on the roof. But indoor opportunities will bring corresponding noise.
The bottom air conditioner is usually hidden under the bed of the RV or at the bottom of the sofa. What we can see is an air outlet, and the air outlet pipes are all hidden in the carriage, so the installation is more complicated and the overall cost is higher. However, the overall noise is relatively small, and cold air can be quickly transported to various areas through pipelines, which can achieve the effect of rapid cooling.
Advantages and disadvantages of home air conditioning and RV air conditioning, home air conditioning has good refrigeration effect, low noise and electricity saving, but it takes up a lot of space. The seismic grade of household air conditioner can't meet the requirements of vehicle running. If it is used for a long time, the components of the air conditioner will be loose and deformed during the driving of the vehicle, which will cause great hidden dangers to the safety of users' lives and property.
The special air conditioner for RV is specially designed for mobile RV, designed to avoid driving vibration and impurity invasion, and it is safe. Disadvantages are high noise and power consumption.
Power supply problem of parking air conditioner
The parking air conditioner can't use the power of the auxiliary battery on the car. At present, the general safety auxiliary battery of RV is maintenance-free lead-acid battery, and the 300AH lead-acid battery weighing 100 kg can only be used for air conditioning for 3 hours. High-power parking air conditioner will cause excessive discharge of the battery when it is used, and the battery will be scrapped directly. Because the battery is too heavy, it also takes up the space inside the car. Excessive increase of battery capacity will reduce the performance of the vehicle, which is not desirable.
Although the iron-lithium battery is light in weight, excessive discharge and impact may lead to the possibility of explosion, which may pose a safety hazard to people in the car.
Precautions for Cooling Maintenance of RV in Summer
Due to the high temperature in summer, tire rubber is easy to soften, and tire puncture will occur in severe cases. Therefore, it is necessary to check the tire pressure at any time while driving. If the tire is overheated and the air pressure is too high, park the car in the shade to cool down. Don't splash or deflate with cold water, otherwise it will lead to a puncture on the way and early tire damage.
Due to the high temperature in summer, limited cooling speed, slow car driving, high engine speed and difficult cooling, it is easy to have "air resistance" when driving, and sometimes it is difficult to start the engine after parking for a few minutes. In case of air resistance, the driver should immediately stop to cool down and troubleshoot. If your car is hydraulically braked and driving at high temperature and high speed, the brake fluid will easily produce air "air resistance", which will cause the brakes to suddenly fail and cause an accident.
Driving in hot weather accelerates the evaporation of water in the water tank. Always check the cooling water quantity and pay attention to the water thermometer. Stop immediately when you find water shortage, but don't add water immediately. Instead, replenish water to cool down after idling, and be careful not to open the radiator cover immediately to avoid being burned.
Lubricating oil is easy to be diluted when heated, and its oxidation resistance is poor, and it is easy to deteriorate, even causing faults such as tile burning and shaft locking. Therefore, crankcase and gearbox should be replaced with summer lubricating oil, and the quantity and quality of lubricating oil should be regularly checked and replaced in time.
When using the air conditioner for the first time in summer, you should first check the air conditioning system, such as checking whether the refrigerant and air conditioning filter are too dirty and whether there are foreign objects in the radiator passing through the liquid storage tank. The normal use method is to turn off the air conditioner switch after about 2-5 minutes of operation and start it again after about 5 minutes. When using the air conditioner in summer, the air conditioner filter should be replaced or cleaned in time to ensure the fresh and hygienic air in the car.
If the vehicle is parked in the hot sun for a long time, don't use the air conditioner immediately after the vehicle starts. First, open all the windows, start the external circulation, and exhaust the hot air. After the temperature in the car drops, close the window and turn on the air conditioner.
Always clean the car in summer to prevent the rain from causing acid corrosion to the car paint. The paint surface should also be protected, such as waxing and polishing. Polishing is a more basic paint surface treatment method than waxing, which directly acts on the paint surface to form a bright protective film and improve the hardness of the paint surface.
Internal cleaning cannot be ignored. Internal cleaning includes: cleaning and disinfection of ceiling, threshold, carpet and other parts; Cleaning and polishing of instrument panel, steering wheel and gear; Sterilization, deodorization, etc. Vents and suitcases.
