Watching the sunrise from Mount Tai
Mount Taishan is open 24 hours a day, but the cars and ropeways going up the mountain have operating hours restrictions.
It is not practical to climb the mountain in the morning to watch the sunrise, because cars and ropeways are not open at that time, and it is too late to climb the mountain on foot.
It is recommended to walk up the mountain from Hongmen at 11 o'clock in the evening. It usually takes 3-4 hours for young people to reach the top of the mountain. If there are elderly people and children, it will take 4-6 hours. At the end of August and the beginning of September, the sunrise time on Mount Tai is around 5:30.
Attached is the content of a post I answered a friend's post a few days ago about the food, clothing, housing and transportation in Taishan. I hope it will be helpful to you:
Yi: The temperature in Tai'an City is basically the same in July and August. Keep it between 25-25 degrees Celsius, and just wear summer clothes; however, the temperature on the mountain is relatively low, and the climate and temperature vary greatly between the mountains and the mountains. In July and August, the temperature on the top of Taishan Mountain is only about 10 degrees Celsius, so you need to bring a jacket. It’s better to wear a down jacket (the temperature at the top of the mountain is more than ten degrees lower than that at the bottom of the mountain, and the wind is very strong, so it is generally colder. Although there are rental military coats and down jackets at the top of the mountain, they are not clean and hygienic.)
Food : Tai'an's catering industry is fairly developed, and consumption levels are acceptable, with both high and low-end restaurants available. Generally speaking, eating is not expensive, but don't eat on Mount Tai or in restaurants very close to Mount Tai. Prices are generally very expensive, especially on the top of the mountain. It is recommended to go to the supermarket to buy some portable food before climbing.
Accommodation: The real peak season of Mount Tai is May Day and National Day, and Mount Tai is crowded with people. At that time, if you want to stay at the top of Mount Tai, you need to make a reservation, but you don’t need to make a reservation at the hotel at the foot of the mountain. There are many hotels in Tai'an. The hotels at the foot of the mountain range from high to low-end, with the average standard room of small and medium-sized hotels ranging from 60 to 100. Try not to stay in hotels close to train stations or bus stations, as they are generally easy to get ripped off (seems to be the same pattern across the country). It is recommended to stay in some chain hotels, which are hygienic and safe and the prices are acceptable. For example: Homeinn, Qitian, Luke 88, Jinhua, Baidu Sunshine, etc., the standard rooms are only 88--190, and you can also shower and surf the Internet.
OK: From a large perspective, Tai'an City is adjacent to Jinan City, the capital of Shandong Province, in the south, with convenient transportation. From a small perspective, the transportation in the city is also very developed. There are many buses and taxis. Taxis in Tai'an are equipped with fare meters that can print tickets, and the management is relatively standardized. Note: If you take the train, you have to go to "Taishan Station". Tai'an Railway Station does not use the city name as the station name!
There are several routes to climb Mount Tai. You can climb from Tianwai Village, Hongmen, Taohuayu, Tianzhu Peak, Houshiwu and other places and routes. If it is your first time to climb Mount Tai, it is recommended to take bus No. 3 from the train station or take a taxi to Hongmen and start climbing from there. After all, it is the most classic route with the most scenic spots. The "Confucius Climbing Site" is right there. There are also many inscriptions and stone carvings on the road. If you climb the mountain from Hongmen, you will pass by Wanxian Tower, Doumu Palace, Jingshiyu (the place where monks and apprentices of the Tang Dynasty shared scriptures as mentioned in Journey to the West), Zhongtian Gate, Yunbu Bridge, and Five Doctors Pine (Qin Shihuang once planted a tree in the tree). Take a nap and have strange dreams), Wangrensong, Shibapan, Nantianmen, Tianjie, Bixia Temple, Jade Emperor Summit and other famous scenic spots. If you are young and in good physical condition, you can reach the summit in four hours. Going down the mountain is very simple. You can take the ropeway from Nantianmen to Zhongtianmen, and then take a bus from Zhongtianmen to Tianwai Village. The scenery along the way down the mountain is also very impressive. In fact, walking down the mountain is very fast, much faster than going up the mountain. It takes four hours to go up the mountain and one and a half hours to go down the mountain. After coming down from Mount Tai, you can take a bus or take a taxi to visit Dai Temple. The entrance fee to Dai Temple is 20 yuan.
As a Tai'an native, I will give you some useful tips:
1. Try not to shop, dine or stay near the station. Generally, there are many illegal shops and it is easy to get ripped off. Things on Mount Tai are more expensive, so try not to eat or stay at the foot of the mountain or on the mountain. Shopping is still possible, but remember to bargain hard.
2. If you plan to watch the sunrise, it is best to check the weather forecast in Tai'an City in advance. When you arrive in Tai'an, check the weather forecast and humidity on the top of Tai'an Mountain at the hotel (if the humidity is high, there will be There are clouds and fog, and it often happens that it is sunny at the bottom of the mountain, rainy on the mountainside, and cloudy on the top of the mountain). You need to start hiking from Hongmen after 11 pm. If you are in good physical condition and can bear weight, you need to bring an insulated water bottle (it is cold on the mountain, so bring some hot water), rain gear (the weather on the mountain is changeable), towels, and jackets , flashlight, Fengyoujing (mosquito repellent). It is important to wear loose-fitting clothing and a pair of light, well-fitting shoes.
