This farewell poem was written in 747 AD (the sixth year of Tianbao in Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty), and the farewell object was the famous pianist Dong. In the spring of that year, the official of the official department, Shangshu Fangguan, was demoted to the DPRK, and the door boy Dong also left Chang 'an. During the prosperous Tang Dynasty, Hu music was popular, and few people could enjoy such ancient music as the lyre. Cui Jue has a poem: "Seven strings are cold and five tones, and this skill of knowing friends has been difficult since ancient times. Only Henan Housing Law has always pitied Dong Lanting. " ("Singing at the Banquet") At this time, Gao Shi was also very frustrated, loafing around and often in a bad situation. In the winter of the sixth year of Tianbao, Gao Shi and Dong met in Suiyang (so the address is now in the south of Shangqiu County, Henan Province) and wrote "Two Poems of Biedong University". This poem is his first.

Gao Shi made many friends all his life and attached great importance to friendship. There are not only stories about his meeting and traveling in Bianzhou with poets such as Li Bai and Du Fu, but also his friendship with Dong Ting, a famous pianist at that time. Biedongda is the poet's farewell speech to Dong.

The whole poem consists of four sentences, which can be divided into two layers.

The first two sentences of this poem focus on the scenery at the time of farewell. The first sentence, "A Thousand Miles of Sunlight in Huang Yun", has a wide field of vision, which fully shows the unique regional scenery of the northwest loess Gao Yuanfeng blowing dust into the clouds. The word "daytime" adds a confused and dim color to the vast loess plateau. The second sentence, "The north wind blows geese and snow in succession", is about the season and climate of farewell. The author writes that the sudden change of weather also symbolizes the bad situation of Dongda University. It's bleak enough that the north wind is howling and the snow is falling. The wailing of the swan goose in the ear makes people who travel far away feel lonely and helpless. Wild geese always fly in groups, which makes the whole picture immersed in the emotional atmosphere of parting, and reminds people of friendship in the mourning of wild geese. On the first floor, these two poems are emotional and write emotional scenes. The scene is empty and the brushwork is rough, but in the roughness, there is a lingering feeling, which makes the farewell mood stronger and stronger.

The second emotional tone and deep depression of this poem turned to sublimity.

The two poems on the second floor are mainly to comfort and encourage Dong's friends to travel abroad. "Mochow had no bosom friend before" comforted Dongda, and she would meet bosom friends everywhere on the way forward. "Everyone knows the monarch" is not only a supplement to the third sentence, but also a praise for Dong's reputation in the world and a prediction for his friends' bright future. Three sentences and four sentences in this poem are mutually causal, the third sentence is the result, and the fourth sentence is the reason. This inverted sentence further shows that Dong Guang makes friends and cherishes friendship.

Huang Yun in the sunset, the vast wilderness, only the northern winter has this kind of scene. This kind of situation, if carved a little, will inevitably hurt the spirit. Gao is a master for this. It's dusk and it's snowing heavily. In the north wind blowing wildly, only geese and Leng Yun appeared in the distance, which made it hard to stop the feeling of cold and wandering. Being reduced to this level by talent makes people cry, and that's the only way. Friends can't be content with the status quo. The first two sentences, by telling the scenery, can see the inner stagnation. Although it has nothing to do with people, it has made people feel like they are in the snow, as if there are strong men whistling on the top of the mountain. If you don't do your best here, you can't see the wonderful turning point below, and you can't see the smoothness, good intentions, deep friendship and other meaning's sadness in the following words. The last two sentences are full of confidence and strength in comfort. Because he is a bosom friend, he speaks simply and generously.

Because of its decline, it takes hope as comfort. The reason why this poem is outstanding is that Gao Shi "has a thousand words in his heart and strong spirit" (Yin Kun's Heroes of He Yue) and "exalts himself with temperament" (Chronicle of Tang Poetry), so it can add color to people who yearn for it and wipe tears for wanderers! If it weren't for the poet's inner depression, how could he make his parting words so considerate and firm? How can we make this unpretentious language cast such beautiful, mellow and moving poems! At the same time as Gao Shi, he also wrote a poem "Listening to Dong Da's Playing Hu Jia and Sending a Message to Teng Shi", which described Dong's wonderful piano sound and superb piano skills to show his personality and beautiful heart.
