Pingbaying Eco-tourism Zone is located at the southern end of Xianfeng County, 50 kilometers away from the county seat, bordering laifeng county in the east and Qianjiang and Youyang in the west and southwest. Including Pingbaying Forest Farm, the second largest forest farm in Hubei Province, and some villagers' groups in Jiamachi Town, with a total area of 154km2. In 2004, it was approved as a national forest park. Pingbaying tourist area is characterized by its ancient, strange, beautiful, secluded and wild flavor, and it is the largest virgin forest community connecting the central and western regions.

The tourist area is inaccessible, with winding mountains and a vast territory. There are 6.5438+0.2 million mu of primary forest, 80,000 mu of primary secondary forest and 60,000 mu of artificial forest. There are more than two kinds of national protected plants, with more than 300 kinds of plants/kloc-0; There are 128 kinds of rare birds and animals, such as South China Tiger, leopard, golden pheasant, fragrant roe and civet cat. Rare hole-piercing communities and deep canyon rapids can be called the kingdom of trees, the ocean of flowers, the paradise of animals, the fairyland on earth and the natural primitive customs Expo Park.

Pingbaying primitive eco-tourism area is a virgin land for tourism development. In addition to the standardization of infrastructure, the scenic spot has maintained its original features, and the reception service facilities have also retained ethnic characteristics such as Tujia and Miao. In the four scenic spots that have been developed, Sidongxia, 10,000 mu of ancient tree rhododendron forest, Jigongshan virgin forest and Qingyun Pavilion, mountains, water, caves and feelings are integrated. Pingbaying Eco-tourism Zone has a strong primitive atmosphere of ancient, strange, beautiful, secluded and wild. There are primary forest 1.2 million mu, primary secondary forest 80,000 mu and artificial forest 70,000 mu in the area. Together with the virgin forest communities extending to Youyang and Qianjiang, it is the largest virgin forest ecological community area in Wuling Mountain area, with a forest coverage rate of over 96%. It is natural oxygen in southwest Hubei.

The terrain in the territory is complex and the relative height difference is large. The highest altitude is 19 1 1.5m, and the lowest altitude is 720m. Landform units with an altitude of 1200- 1400 meters account for 2/3 of the total area. It belongs to the mountainous climate in southwest Hubei, with mild weather and abundant rainfall all year round. Microclimate has obvious characteristics, with annual average temperature 1 1.8℃, extreme maximum temperature of 35℃ and extreme minimum temperature of -8℃. Annual precipitation 1800-2600mm, relative humidity 85%, frost-free period of about 250 days.

The territory is vast and sparsely populated, with inconvenient transportation, less affected by human activities, and the biodiversity and ecology are primitive. It is an important part of the "Central China Biological Shelter", with winding mountains and a vast territory. There are 20,000 mu of Millennium Rhododendron and ancient Rhododendron over 80cm, and there are more than 300 species of national second-class protected plants such as Taxus chinensis, Davidia involucrata, Liriodendron chinense and Chenopodium album/kloc-0. Nearly 2000 species of plants have been proved, including dozens of precious medicinal materials such as wild gastrodia elata, codonopsis pilosula, radish, panax notoginseng and coptis chinensis. There are more than 200 kinds of rare birds and animals such as leopard, fragrant roe, civet (raccoon dog, civet) and golden pheasant, among which there are more than 30 kinds of national protected animals, and wild boar, hare and pheasant can be seen everywhere.

The territory is mountainous and undulating; The forest is vast and lush, full of green; The canyon is deep and grotesque; Mountain springs gurgle, streams rush, and sometimes waterfalls form natural scenic spots.
