The Historical Evolution of Xinquan Town

The original Xinquan Town is located in the southwest of Xiangyin County. Xiangyin County is in the southwest, Yiyang in the west, Yueyang in the north and Changsha, the capital of Nantong, with an area of 134.4 square kilometers and a population of 85,920 (at the end of 2009). It has jurisdiction over 4 neighborhood committees, 50 administrative villages, 5 fishing grounds and 1 agricultural station. It is a traditional agricultural town and a well-known land of plenty.

In 2005, Xinquan Temple Town, Fengnan Township, Guangongtan Township, Chema Township and Xilin Township were abolished and Xinquan Town was established. Taking the administrative areas of the original Xinquansi Town, Fengnan Township, Guangongtan Township, Chema Township and Xilin Township as the administrative areas of the newly established Xinquan Town, Xinquan Town has four neighborhood committees and 49 established villages with a total area of 138.4 square kilometers and a total population of 76,000. The town government is located in Xinquan Temple.
